Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina summun wabukmun fee alththulumati man yashai Allahu yudlilhu waman yasha yajAAalhu AAala siratin mustaqeemin
The Aya says:And those who declared untrue in our signs (are) deaf and mute, in the darknesses. Whomever Allah wills He makes lost and whomever, he makes upon a straight path.
My personal note:
The aya brings attention to the person who insists that the signs of God untrue. It mentions that he is unable to understand, unable to express himself and unable to see because he lives in the plural of darkness. This means that the darkness is complex and not simple.
The Aya brings also the question of: Does Allah make some people lost? Or lose the path? And the answer is yes, but not in a haphazard way as one may understand the Aya at a superficial level.
This is because in other places of the Qur’an, it declares that Allah provides guidance to all humanity. It is those who do not act on that initial guidance that Allah will chose to misguide. It is a message for action and not inaction.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Waallatheena: while those who/ and those who
Kaththaboo: they declared untrue/ they rejected
Note: KATHTHABOO is derived from the root K-TH-B and it means a untrue. Conceptually, it can be extended at times to mean a lie, although the core of the meaning is untruth, whether it is a lie or not, conscious or not. KATHTHABOO is an action that is completed. It means: the action of making an object (Biayatina= in our signs) untrue happened by the subject (third person plural). In this context, “making the signs untrue” means actually declaring it untrue or denying truthfulness or strongly rejecting it .
biayatina: in Our signs
Note: Bi denotes that what comes after is a tool and/or an object or an association with an action that was mentioned. If it is an object of the action then it makes it stronger. AYAT is derived from the root Hamza-Y-H and it means sign. AYATI means signs of. NA means Us or our.
Summon: deaf/ blocked hearing
Note: the root is Sad-M-M and it means blockage of some entity. The concrete word SAMMAM means a certain kind of block that either blocks all thing or selectively allows certain things in and keeps others out. Conceptually, the term is used often for deafness or further for blocking anything from reaching their minds. SUMMUN means deaf or blocked in hearing.
Wabukmun: and unable to talk/ to express
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. WA often corresponds with “and/ addition” but the more encompassing meaning is in inclusion one in another or all in a bigger picture or sentence. BUKMUN is derived from the root B-K-M and it means inability to speak. BUKMUN are the people who are unable to speak

Alththulumati: the darknesses
Note: the root is THA-L-M and it means darkness in the most concrete form. This word also takes the meaning of misplacing right from wrong and transgression or injustice since injustice is displacing right from wrong and a decision made in darkness. ALTHTHULUMATI means the darknesses.
Man: whoever
Yashai: : He wills/ He entities
Note: the root is SH-Y-Hamza and it means entity for noun and to entity for the action. This means making a non entity become an entity, which also means making what was impossible possible, or what was non existent, existent or what was un-allowed allowed, and so forth. YASHAI is an action that is related to the root that is being completed or will be completed. It means: The entity is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular and points to God).
Allahu: Allah
Yudlilhu: He makes lost
Note: the root is Dhad-L-L and it means getting lost as in lost the path or road in concrete terminology. Conceptually, it is used for any form of loosing the path, whether it is the path to a location or to the truth, or to be correct spiritually and so on. The imagery is very strong since loosing the path in the desert can mean near certain death. YUDLILHU is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the actions of making the object (Hu-= him) loose the path, or becoming misguided or becoming lost (in this context) is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular).
waman: and whoever
yasha: : He wills/ He entities
Note: the root is SH-Y-Hamza and it means entity for noun and to entity for the action. This means making a non entity become an entity, which also means making what was impossible possible, or what was non existent, existent or what was un-allowed allowed, and so forth. YASHAI is an action that is related to the root that is being completed or will be completed. It means: The entity is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular and points to God).
yajAAalhu: He makes him
Note: the root is root J-Ain-L and it means making, forming or transforming something that already exists. Conceptually, it takes the meaning of transformation more often than formation. YAJAAaL is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of transforming the object (HU=him) by the subject (first person singular pointing to Allah).
AAala: upon
Siratin: path
Note: the root is Sad-R-TTa and it means path. SIRAT is path.
mustaqeemin: made upright/ self straightening / leading to uprightness
Note: the root is Qaf-W-M and it means standing upright or standing. The upright can be in all planes of position and for a horizontal dimension it means straight. MUSTAQEEM is a derivative word that means literally aimed uprightness and became upright. That is then the straight path or the path made straight or self straightening path, but the main thing is the aim of the path and where it leads.
