Salaam all,


Qul man harrama zeenata Allahi allatee akhraja liAAibadihi waalttayyibati mina alrrizqi qul hiya lillatheena amanoo fee alhayati alddunya khalisatan yawma alqiyamati kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yaAAlamoona

The Aya says:
Say (O Muhammad): who forbade the adornments that Allah brought out to his servants, and also the good of the provisions?!! Say (O Muhammad): on the day of Judgment they will belong exclusively to those who made themselves trust (Allah)during this life. As such we make distinct the signs for people who have knowledge.

My personal note:

The Aya repeats the often repeated issue of how problematic for someone to declare something forbidden without a clear order from Allah or His messenger. The Aya also promises that the good things of this life will belong exclusively to those who made themselves safe and trusting of Allah in the next life. May Allah always increased our trust in Him and our safety in Him, Amen


Translation of the transliterated words:
Qul: say
Note: QUL is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means saying in any way possible. QUL is an order addressed to a singular. It means: Say.
Man: who?
Harrama: He made forbidden/ forbidden to violate
Note: the root is Ha-R-M and it means “forbidding and forbidden to violate”. HARRAMA is an action that is completed. It means: the action of making the object (MAN= who) forbidden happened by the subject (third person singular).
Zeenata: adornment of
Note: ZEENA is derived from the root Z-Y-N and it means what one puts on to add beauty to the look. It is used to cover clothes, jewelry and make up. For the land, it is the grass and the flowers. ZEENATA means: adornment of.
Allahi: Allah
Allatee: which
Akhraja: He brought out
Note: AKHRAJA is derived from The root KH-R-J and it means coming out or exiting. That is the conceptual meaning and it assumes it’s more specific meaning or meanings according to the plane of thought of the sentence. AKHRAJA is an action that is completed. It means: the action of making the object (ALLATEE= which) come happened by the subject (first person singular pointing to Allah)

liAAibadihi: for His servants/ for His humbled ones
Note: LI means to or for. AAIBADI is derived from the root Ain-B-D and it means slave or servant. The road that is MUABBAD is the road that is well trodden and made easy to walk or drive on and so on. Conceptually, ABD is an entity that is easy to manage and does smooth sailing either by it’s own or by being subject to pressure from above. AAIBADI means the humbled ones of or the servants ones of. HI means him and it points to Allah.
waalttayyibati: and the good things
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. WA often corresponds with “and/ addition” but the more encompassing meaning. ALTTAYYIBATI is derived from the root TTa-Y-B and it means good according the plane of thought. Conceptually, it is used for any good entity or any entity that is good in it’s nature and effect. Religiously speaking, this suggests that things that are allowed by the religion are good for us, while things that are forbidden are not good for us. ALTTAYYIBATI means: the good things.

Alrrizqi: the provisions
Note: ALRRIZQI is derived from the root R-Z-Qaf and it means provision and conceptually, it covers any form of providing especially for needs. ALRRIZQI is the provision.

Qul: say
Note: QUL is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means saying in any way possible. QUL is an order addressed to a singular. It means: Say.
Hiya: she/it/they
Lillatheena: to those who/ belongs to those who/ will belong to those who
Amanoo: made themselves safe
Note: the root is Hamza-M-N and it means safe or safety. AMANOO is an action that is derived from the root and that is completed. It means: the action of making the object (not mentioned and therefore the subject and the object can be the same entity here) become safe happened by the subject (third person plural). So, it ends up meaning: they made themselves safe.

alhayati : the life
Note: the root is Ha-Y-W and it means life or movement. The two are related since movement is a sign of life to the Arabs. Conceptually, the term can take other meanings including greetings and shyness as well according to the context. The relationship is that Arabs before Islam used to greet each other by wishing a good and long life. In here, it takes the meaning of greetings. ALHAYATI means the life.

Alddunya: the near/ the nearer/ this life
Note: the root is D-N-W and it means nearness or nearing. ALDUNYA means the near. In this case, it points to this life that we are living in as the near. ALDDUNYA is also this life that we are living. ALHAYATU ALDDUNYA means this life.
Khalisatan: exclusive/ eclusively belonging
Note: the root is KH-L-Sad and it means to become sole as in free from impurities. Conceptually, this can mean becoming pure but it also can mean being designated to a single entity and so on. In this context it carries the meaning of being solely or exclusively designated. KHALISATAN means exclusively belonging.
yawma : day of
Note: YAWMA is derived from the root Y-W-M and it means day. YAWMA means the day of.
Alqiyamati: the standing/ the rising
Note: the root is Q-W-M and it means standing upright. ALQIYAMATI is the standing upright or upright standing. This is a term that is used for the day of judgment because we all stand in front of GOD. YAWMI ALQIYAMATI is the judgment day.
Kathalika: as such/ like that
Nufassilu: We detail/ we distinguish/ we make distinct
Note: the root is F-Sad-L and it means what makes the two things or more distinguishable from one another. This can be because of separation or because of joint or change of color or angle and so on. The action is more of distinction. NUFASSILU is an action that is derived from the root. The action is being completed or will be completed. It means that the action of distinguitiong or detailing of the object (ALAYATI= the signis)is happening or will be happening by the subject (first person plural).

Note: AYAT is derived from the root Hamza-Y-H and it means sign. ALAYATI means the signs.
Liqawmin: to people
Note: LI means to. QAWMIN is derived from the root Qaf-Y-M and it means standing or standing upright. QAWMIN are the people that stand together and that makes the group or people or nation, basically, any group of people that stand together or form a group.
yaAAlamoona: they know/ happen to know
Note: YaAALAMOONA is derived from the root Ain-L-M and it means knowing/knowledge or knowledge of facts. YaAALAMOONA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of knowing the object (not mentioned) for fact is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person plural). LIQAWMIN YaAALAMOONA has the meaning of people who know, or people who search for facts.
