3:32

Salaam all,

This is 3:32
قُلْ أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِينَ
Qul ateeAAoo Allaha waalrrasoola fain tawallaw fainna Allaha la yuhibbu alkafireena

The Aya says:
Say (O Muhammad): make yourselves obey Allah willingly, and the messenger. So, if they followed their own direction, then Allah does not love the rejecters.

My personal note:
The Aya points to the fact that obeying Allah and His messenger is part of the system and the direction that is to be taken by the people of God. It reminds us that people who take their own direction away from God’s path are people who are not loved by Allah.

Again, the theme is that of God’s love and ways to reach God’s love. We have to always work on loving God and on making God love us. The Aya mentions one of the ways of earning God’s love and that is following his direction and path willingly.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Qul: Say
Note: Note: the root is Qaf-W-L and it means saying. QUL is an order addressing a single person and it means: Say
ateeAAoo: obey willingly/ willingly comply
Note: the root Ta-W-ain and it means willingly comply, or obey approvingly and willingly. ATeeAAoo is an order to perform an action addressing a group of people. It means: make yourselves obey willingly and approvingly.
Allaha: Allah
Waalrrasoola: and the messenger
Note: WA means and. ALRRASOOLA is derived from the root R-S-L and it means the group of people or animals that were sent. ALRRASOOLA is the one that is sent and is used to mean the messenger because he was sent by the sender to the receiver.
Fain: So, if
Tawallaw: they move away/ they took their own direction
Note: the root is W-L-Y and it means direction or following direction. TAWALLAW is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of making oneself follow own direction happened by the subject (third person plural).
Fainna: So, verily
Allaha: Allah
La: not
Yuhibbu: He loves
Note: the root is Ha-B-B and it means in concrete seed. This word also means love. As if the seed is the product of love or the love will end up in a seed. YUHIBBU is an action that is derived from the root and that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of loving is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to God). This, in effect means, HE loves
Alkafireena: The rejectors
Note: the root is K-F-R and it means covering. One of the concrete meanings of the word is the burying of the seed in the ground to plant it. This word also takes the meaning of rejecting or refusing something, since the person that rejects something will bury it in the ground. ALKAFIREENA are the rejecting ones or the rejecters.

Salaam all and have a great day

Hussein
