8:24
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اسْتَجِيبُواْ لِلّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُم لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo istajeeboo lillahi walilrrasooli itha daAAakum lima yuhyeekum waiAAlamoo anna Allaha yahoolu bayna almari waqalbihi waannahu ilayhi tuhsharoona
The Aya says:
O you who have faith respond to Allah and to the messenger when and if He calls to what invigorates you/ enliven you. And know for fact that Allah surrounds between the person and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.

There are two levels of understanding of the Aya and they are both interconnected. The first level is that we as believers should aim for life and vigor so we should aim for whatever gives us more life and life is in a sense defined by our vigor and energy. This continues further in mentioning that our lives are in the hand of Allah and therefore He surrounds between us and our hearts.
The other level of understanding is that the more we respond to Allah and His messenger the more full of life and vigor we will be in a spiritual sense. So, the person who rejects the message or does not respond to it has a dead heart while the one who responds to it is alive and the who responds more is more alive and has more vigor. In this the significance of Allah surrounding between the person and his heart is in a sense that Allah surrounds between the person and his thoughts and emotions and so on. Here is an opportunity for the believer to ask Allah to stabilize the heart and mind in Allah’s path and to get even closer. In this is also the danger for the person who rejects or ignores Allah or His message then this person is at risk that Allah may not help his heart and mind. This person can reverse this by starting to respond to Allah and His message. May Allah enliven us always with His message.

Ya ayyuha: O you
Allatheena: those who
Amanoo: made themselves safe/ attained faith
Note: the root is Hamza-M-N and it means safe or safety. AMANOO is an action that is derived from the root and that is completed. It means: the action of making the object (not mentioned and therefore the subject and the object can be the same entity here) become safe happened by the subject (third person plural). So, it ends up meaning: they made themselves safe.
Istajeeboo: answer/ respond affirmatively
Note: ISTAJEEBOO is derived from the root J-W-B and it means response or answer to a question or answer to a request. ISTAJEEBOO is an order or a request addressed to a group. It means respond or answer with the understanding that the response is supposed to be in the affirmative.

Walilrrasooli: and to the messenger/ and to the envoy
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. WA is often translated as an addition (and), but inclusion probably covers the meaning a little better. LI means to. ALRRASOOLA is derived from the root R-S-L and it means to envoy someone or a group of people or animals. The concrete word is RASL and it means a group of people or animals that were sent by their owners or senders. RUSULUN means messengers of and is the plural of RASOOL who is the one that is sent and is used to mean the messenger because he was sent by the sender to the receiver. ALRRASOOL means the messenger or the envoy.
Itha: when/ if and when
daAAakum: He calls you (plural)
Note: the root is D-Ain-Y or D-Ain-W and it means calling as in calling someone for help or otherwise. DaAAa is an action that is completed. It means: the action of calling to the object (Kum= plural you) happened by the subject (third person singular).

Yuhyeekum: makes you live/ enliven you
Note: YUHYEEKUM is derived from the root Ha-Y-W and it means life or movement. The two are related since movement is a sign of life to the Arabs. Conceptually, the term can take other meanings including greetings and shyness as well according to the context. The relationship is that Arabs before Islam used to greet each other by wishing a good and long life. AHYAYNAHU is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of making the object (KUM- plural you) live is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular)
waiAAlamoo: and know (plural)/ know for fact/ Be aware
Note: WA here is to resume a sentence. iAALAMOO is derived from the root Ain-L-M and it means knowing/knowledge or knowledge of facts. iAALAMOO is an order or a request addressed to a group. It means: know or know for fact.
Anna: that
Allaha: Allah
Yahoolu: surrounds
Note: the root is Ha-W-L and it means cycle or circle or surrounding. This means anything that goes in circles of time of space or otherwise but also for any entity that surrounds another or around another. YAHOOLU is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means the action of surrounding is happening by the subject (third person singular). When followed by the word BAYNA (between) it takes the form of going in between/ making a barrier between the two and so on.
Bayna: between
Almari: the person
Note: the root is root M-R-Hamza and it means a person. ALMARI means the person
Waqalbihi: and his heart/ and his thoughts and feelings
Note: WA here means and. QALBIHI is derived from the root Qaf-L-B and it means turning 180 degrees or upside down. The word is used for heart, because it is the organ that changes it’s moods or responds to the changes of the moods most clearly by increasing or decreasing the heart rate and so on. Therefore QALB is our thoughts and emotions and also hearts because that is the ultimate effect of them. QALBIHI means his heart and it also means his thoughts and emotions.
Waannahu: and that He (Allah)
Ilayhi: to Him/ towards Him
Tuhsharoona: you (plural) will be gathered
Note: the root is Ha-SH-R and it means gathering. One concrete meaning of the word is small creatures of the land as the insects. The relationship is the fact that they gather in big numbers in one place as to eat and so forth. TUHSHAROON is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of gathering the object (second person plural) in one place is going to be made to happen by an undeclared subject.
