قَالَتْ فَذٰلِكُنَّ ٱلَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدتُّهُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ فَٱسَتَعْصَمَ وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَآ آمُرُهُ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُوناً مِّن ٱلصَّاغِرِينَ

Qalat fathalikunna allathee lumtunnanee feeh walaqad rawadtuhu AAan nafsihi fastaAAsam;wala’in lam yafAAal ma aamuruhu layusjananna walayakoonan mina assaghireen

The Aya says:

She said: “So that is the one you reproached me about.  And I enticed him, so he resisted. And if he does not do what I order him, then he will be jailed and will be humiliated.”

My personal note:

The Aya continues with her letting her guests know of her situation.  She also exposed that she is willing to use her power to try to get out of him what she wants.

Translation of the transliterated words:

Qalat: she said

Note: QALAT is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means saying in any way possible. QALAT is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means the action of saying happened by the subject (third person singular feminine). This, in turn means: She said or she responded/ retorted.

 Fathalikunna: so to you

Allathee: the one

Lumtunnanee: you reproached me/ you blame me

Note: the root is L-W-M and it means blame or reproach. LUMTUNNANEE is an action that is completed. It means: the action of blaming or reproaching the object (Nee=me) happened by the subject (second person plural feminine).

Feeh: in him/ about

Walaqad: and indeed

Rawadtuhu: I enticed him/ I approached him

Note: RAWADTU is derived from the root R-W-D and it means in concrete the person that goes ahead of the people looking for resources. Therefore, the word has within it the meanings of pioneering, seeking and desiring. RAWADTU is an action that is interactive. It means: the action of seeking/ desiring in an interactive way happened by the subject (first person singular) to the object (Hu=him pointing to Joseph).  The interactive format here takes the shape of insistence and so on.

AAan: about

Note: NAFS is derived from the root N-F-S and it means to breath. This is the concept and then it can extend to self or anything that breathes. NAFSI is self of.  HI means his.

fastaAAsam: so he refused/ so he resisted/ so he sought preservation/ he stayed resolute

Note: FA means then or so or therefore.  ISTaAASAM is derived from the root Ain-Sad-M and it means protecting or protection. Layusjananna: then he will be imprisoned

It means: the action of being is happening or will be happening by the subject (first personal singular masculine).

Mina: amongst/ of

Assaghireen: the lessened/ the humiliated/ humbled

Note: the root is Sad-GHain-R and it means small or little in quality or quantity or any other feature that denotes littleness. This is the general meaning and becomes more specific according to the sentence. ASSAGHIREEN means the diminuted and this points to humiliation lowliness and humbleness.
