Salaam all,
This is 3:17
الصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْمُنفِقِينَ وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالأَسْحَارِ
Alssabireena waalssadiqeena waalqaniteena waalmunfiqeena waalmustaghfireena bialashari
The Aya says:
(They are) The patient ones, the truthful, the dedicated (to God), the spenders (to charity) and the seekers (of God’s) protective cover in predawn.
My personal note:
This continues the theme that was started in 3:15 and it gives further features of those people who will be close to God.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Alssabireena: The patient/ the one who are patient
Note: the root is Sad-B-R and it means jail or prison. The word is used to mean patience, since patience is about imprisoning our negative emotions and thoughts. ALSSABIRINA are the ones who are patient.
Waalssadiqeena: the truthful/ the ones who are truthful
Note: WA means and. ALSSADIQEENA is derived from the root Sad-D-Qaf and it means truth as in communication the truth and so forth. The word acquires other meanings related to the same principle as in great friend or act of charity as an act of truthfulness. ALSSADIQEENA are the ones who truthful.
Waalqaniteena: The ones who are dedicated/ the dedicated (To God)
Note: WA means and. ALQAITEENA is derived from the root is Qaf-N-T and it means dedicating. The meaning can have being silent in front of another, acceptance of the lordship of the one above him/her, worship, and standing as well. What puts all the meanings together best is dedication as the bigger concept.
Waalmunfiqeena: and the ones who spend (to charity)
Note: WA means and. ALMUNFIQEENA is derived from the root is N-F-Qaf and it means tunnel in the concrete sense. This is then used to mean anything that is tunneled from one place to another as in hiding your thoughts or presenting different than the ones that you hold. Another is tunneling you money to another destination as in giving some of your money to charity or so forth. Here, it is used for the tunneling of the money or the spending it for charity. ALMUNFIQEENA means the ones who spend to charity.
Waalmustaghfireena: and the ones who seek protective cover (of God)/ seek forgiveness
Note: WA means and. ALMUSTAGHFIREENA is derived from the root GH-F-R and it means the helmet of the soldier in the battle. This one of the concrete words and the word is therefore used to mean protective covering in many fashions as in protecting the person from the error or protecting the person from the consequence of error and that is forgiveness. ALMUSTAGHFIREENA are the ones who seek God’s protective cover or God's forgiveness.
Bialashari: in the predawn
Note: Bi suggests that what comes after it is either an association with the action, a tool of the action or an object of the action or any combination of the three. If bi serves as an object of the action that it serves as an emphasis of the action. ALASHARI is derived from the root S-Ha-R and it means magic as one of the meaning which is looking like something but being another. It also has the meaning of something that looks one way on one end and another at the other end. The word is used for the edges of day or night, especially the predawn, since it looks one way at one end and another at the other. ALASHAR are the predawns.
Take care all and have a great day
Hussein
