Salaam all,
This is 2:138
صِبْغَةَ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ صِبْغَةً وَنَحْنُ لَهُ عَابِدونَ
Sibghata Allahi waman ahsanumina Allahi sibghatan wanahnu lahu AAabidoona
The Aya says:
Baptism of the GOD and who is better than the GOD in baptism?! And we worship HIM
My personal note:
This Aya says that GOD baptizes us as we feel safe in him. This is the best of the baptisms. This Aya touches on the issue of baptism of Christianity in a certain sense.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Sibghata: Dipping/baptism of
Note: the root is Sad-B-Ghain and it means dipping in water, oil or paint. This word can be used to mean baptism as in the Christian baptism.
Allahi: The GOD
Waman: And who (with a question mark)
Ahsanu: better/more beautiful
Note: the root is Ha-S-N and it means beautiful in all it’s meanings and good. AHSANU means better or more beautiful
Mina: than/from/of
Allahi: The GOD
Sibghatan: Dipping/baptism
Note: the root is Sad-B-Ghain and it means dipping in water, oil or paint. This word can be used to mean baptism as in the Christian baptism.
Wanahnu: And we
Lahu: to him
AAabidoona: We arrive at servitude and worship/we worship
Note: the root is Ain-B-D and it means slave or servant. AAaBIDOUN are the people that arrive at servitude or the servants and this can mean worshippers.
Salaam all and have a great day
Hussein
