Salaam all,
This is 2:115
وَللَّهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّواْ فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Walillahi almashriqu waalmaghribufaaynama tuwalloo fathamma wajhu Allahi inna AllahawasiAAun AAaleemun
The AYA says:
And to the GOD belongs the east and the west. So, wherever you direct yourselves, there is the face of the GOD (his acceptance/reception/presence). The GOD is all encompassing, knowledgeable.”
My personal note:
This Aya reminds us that GOD’s presence is everywhere, in every direction we move and that he is ready to accept us, receive us and direct us.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Walillahi: And to the GOD belongs
Note: WA means And. LI means to and it points to belonging. ALLAH is the GOD.
Almashriqu: The east/the place where the sun rises
Note: The root is SH-R-Qaf and it means to rise and it is used to point to the rising sun in the morning. ALMASHRIQ is the place where the sun rises and that is the east.
Waalmaghribu: And the west/the place where the sun sets.
Note: WA means And. ALMAGHRIB is derived from the root GH-R-B and it means to set and is used for the setting of the sun. ALMAGHRIB is the place where the sun sets and it points to the west.
Faaynama: So Wherever
Tuwalloo: You direct yourselves/ direction you follow
Note: the root is W-L-W and it means to direct or be directed depending on the situation. TUWALLOO is the second person plural present or future tense and it means you direct yourselves in direction or where you make yourselves follow direction.
Fathamma: So there
Wajhu: Face of (reception and presence and acceptance and direction of)
Note: the root is W-J-H and it means face for concrete. For Abstract it means reception/acceptance/presence and direction, some or all at the same time.
Allahi: The GOD
inna Allaha: The GOD (with stress)
Note: INNA points to stressing a certain point. ALLAHI is the GOD
wasiAAun: All encompassing
Note: the root is W-S-Ain and it means to become capable of holding within (anything material or otherwise) or to have the space to hold things within. WASSIAAuN is the one that is has the ability to hold within and that means all encompassing.
AAaleemun: Knowledgeable
Note: the root is Ain-L-M and it means to know. ALEEM is the knowledgeable person.
Salaam all and have a great day
Hussein
