Salaam all,
this is 2:121
الّذِينَ آتَـيْنَاهُمُ الكِتابَ يَتْلُونَهُ حَقَّ تِلاوَتِهِ أُولَئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرُ بِهِ فـاولَئِكَ هُمُ الـخاسِرُونَ
Allatheena ataynahumualkitaba yatloonahu haqqa tilawatihi ola-ikayu/minoona bihi waman yakfur bihi faola-ika humu alkhasiroona
The Aya says:
Those to whom we brought the book, they recite it and follow it the true abiding way of following it. Those make selves safe in it. And whoever covers (self) at it, therefore those are the loosers
My personal note:
The book is an interesting word. Here it says the book and is specified as the bood that was made to come to people. Book can be book, but it can be anything related to writing as in the process of writing, including knowledge, ideas, papers, pens and books. The book here is understood as the scriptures by most and that is correct. However, one can expand the understanding to the Qur’an, as well as any writing of true knowledge from GOD. True knowledge is to be understood as religious and non religious. This is because all true knowledge comes from GOD and all true knowledge leads to GOD.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Allatheena: Those that
Ataynahumu: WE made come to them/to whom WE made come/to whom WE brought
Note: the root os Hamza-T-W and it means to come with determination. ATAYNA is the frst person plural past tense of a verb that is derived from the root. This verb means We made come to. HUM means them
Alkitaba: The book/the process of writing (including all that is involoved in writing)
Note: the root is K-T-B and it means to write. ALKITAB means the book or anything that is involved in writing from ideas to thoughts to paper to ink to book. The book or process of writing that is talked about here is generally understood as the scriptures that include the holy bible and may include the Qur’an. In a wider sense, it may include all true knowledge that was written by man because all true knowledge came to man from GOD.
Yatloonahu: Follow it (in word and deed).
Note: The root is T-L-W and it means to follow closely. The concrete word TALU is the child of the animal after weaning because it is following the mother very closely. The word is used to mean follow closely, reading word by word as in reciting as well as applying the knowledge.
Haqqa: True and abiding
Note: the root is Ha-Qaf-Qaf and it means true and abiding at the same time. HAQQA is true and abiding.
Tilawatihi: Way He (the book) followed
Note: The root is T-L-W and that was described earlier. TILAWATI means way something or someone is followed. HI means HE and that points to the book
ola-ika: Those
yu/minoona: Make themselves safe/trust.
Note: the root is Hamza-M-N and it means to become safe. YU/MINOON is the third person plural present tense of a derived verb. This verb means to make oneself safe and this means trust
Bihi: in/at him (the book)
Waman: And whoever
Yakfur: Covers self
Note: the root is K-F-R and it means to cover. YAKFUR is the third person singular or plural present tense of the verb. It means cover oneself especially to GOD’s message.
Bihi: in/at him (the book)
faola-ika: Therefore those
humu: They/them
alkhasiroona: the loosers
Note: the root is KH-S-R and it means to loose. ALKHASIROON are the loosers.
Salaam all and have a great day
Hussein
