This is 2:118
وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ لَوْلاَ يُكَلِّمُنَا اللَّهُ أَوْ تَأْتِينَآ آيَةٌ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ مِّثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْ تَشَابَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ
Waqala allatheena layaAAlamoona lawla yukallimuna Allahu awta/teena ayatun kathalika qala allatheenamin qablihim mithla qawlihim tashabahat quloobuhum qadbayyanna al-ayati liqawmin yooqinoona

The Aya says:
And the people that don’t know said: If only the GOD talks to us or bring to us a sign. So said the people before them. Their hearts and minds look alike. WE made the signs clear and clarifying to people that verify (to reach certainty).

My personal note:
The signs of GOD are in the book and everywhere. They clarify things to the people that seek verification and search for the truth

Translation of the transliterated words:
Waqala: And said
Note: WA means And. QALA is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means to say. QALA is the third person singular or plural past tense of the verb
Allatheena: Those that
layaAAlamoona: Don’t know
Note: LA means not and here it means do not. YaAALAMOON is derived from the root Ain-L-M and it means to know. YaAALAMOON is the third person plural present tense of the verb.
Lawla: If only
Note: this is an expression that points to a wish or something to that maning.
Yukallimuna: speak to us
Note: the root is K-L-M and it means an opening in the skin as an open wound or an open mouth which means speech. YUKALLIMU is the third person singular present tense of a verb that is derived of the verb. Literally it means make open his mouth and it really means speak. NA means us.
Allahu: The GOD
awta/teena: Or comes to us
Note: AW means or. TA/TEENA is derived from the root Hamza-T-W and it means to come with enthusiasm. TA/TEE is the third person singular present or future tense of the verb. NA means Us.
Ayatun: Sign
Kathalika: So did/like hat did
Qala: said
Note: QALA is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means to say. QALA is the third person singular or plural past tense of the verb
Allatheena: Those that
Min: From
Qablihim: before them
Note: the root is Qaf-B-L and it means to become front (time or place) as in ahead or accepting or receiving. QABLI here means before here. HIM means them.
Mithla: Similar
Note: the root is M-TH-L and it means similar for the noun and to become similar for the verb. MITHL here means similar
Qawlihim: Their saying
Note: the root is Qa-W-L and it means to say. QAWL means saying. HIM means their.
Tashabahat: looked alike
Note: the root is SH-B-H and it means to look like (something or someone) while you may or may not be alike. TASHABAHAT is the third person singular or plural past tense of a verb that is derived from the same root. This verb is interative and therefore means that two things or more look alike, while still they may or may not look alike.
Quloobuhum: Their hearts and minds
Note: the root is Qaf-L-B and it means to rotate 180 degrees or turn upside down for the verb and the heart around which you rotate as you turn. For concrete it means heart and for abstract it means heart and mind
