2:116

Salaam all,

This is 2:116
وَقَالُواْ اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ وَلَداً سُبْحَانَهُ بَل لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ كُلٌّ لَّهُ قَانِتُونَ
The Aya says:
And they said: The GOD took to himself a child (probably male). Glorified is HE, but to him belongs what is in the heavens and the earth. All, to Him, Staying.

My pesonal Note:
This AYA is obviously a response to whomever claims that GOD has a child. The answer is that Glory is to GOD for to him everything belongs and everything stays.

Translation of the Transliterated words:
Waqaloo: And they said
Note: WA means and. QALOO is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means to say for the verb and saying for the noun. QALOO is the third person plural past tense of the verb.
Itakhatha: He took to himself
Note: the root is T-KH-TH and it means to take. ITTAKHATHA is the third person singular past tense of a verb that is derived from the root. This verb suggests taking to oneself.
Allahu: The GOD
Waladan: A child (probably male)/offspring
Note: the root is W-L-D and it means to give birth or to conceive. WALAD is the product of this conception or birth and that means Child. This child can be male or female. I think that it is a male because if the child was a female, then it would have been specified (I may be wrong).
Subhanahu: Glorified is he
Note: this is a word that is also used in the Hebrew bible and it is translated as Glory and so forth. The root is S-B-Ha and it means to swim or to float. I am not clear as to the relationship between the two meanings.
bal lahu: But to HIM belongs
ma fee: What is in
alssamawati: The aboves/the heavens
Note: the root is S-M-W and it means to rise. ALSAMAWAT is plural of SAMA’ and this word literally means the process that makes things rise and that is considered as the above itself or the roof or ceiling of anything.
waal-ardi: And the earth/the land
Note: this word means earth or land
Kullun: All
Lahu: To HIM
Qanitoona: Staying
Note: The root is Qaf-N-T and this is one of the most words to describe. According to Lisan Al Arab the origin of the word is Staying or standing at or close to something or someone for a long time. This meaning can get to the abstract of obeying/dedicated/prayer and silence as well as service. Please keep in mind that I may have made a mistake here.
