يَعْتَذِرُونَ إِلَيْكُمْ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ قُل لاَّ تَعْتَذِرُواْ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكُمْ قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا اللّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ وَسَيَرَى اللّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَى عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
YaAAtathiroona ilaykum itha rajaAAtum ilayhim qul la taAAtathiroo lan numina lakum qad nabbaana Allahu min akhbarikum wasayara Allahu AAamalakum warasooluhu thumma turaddoona ila AAalimi alghaybi waalshshahadati fayunabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona
The Aya says:
They excuse themselves to you (plural), as you came back to them. Say (singular): “do not find excuses. We shall never trust you. Allah informed us of your news. And Allah and His messenger will see your work then you will be returned to the knowledgeable of the unperceived and the witnessed, so He will inform you of what you used to do”
My personal note:
The Aya brings about that it is useless for those people to try to find excuses because their matter is clear to Allah and that Allah had informed the messenger about them. The aya also informs them that when they are returned to Allah they will be informed of all that they did.
Translation of the transliterated words:
YaAAtathiroona: they seek excuse for themselves/ they try to explain/ they excuse themselves
Note: the root is Ain-TH-R and it means: excusing or bring a reasonable excuse for an action or inaction. YaAATATHIROON is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means: the action of seeking excuse for one self is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person plural).
Ilaykum: to you (plural)/ towards you
Itha: when
rajaAAtum: you (plural) returned
Note: Note: the root is R-J-Ain and it means returning. RAJaAATUM is an action that is completed. It means: the action of returning happened by the subject (second person plural). It is a response to the conditional. In a a sense the sentence says: They will try to excuse themselves to you when you come back.
Ilayhim: to them.
Qul: say (singular)/ respond
Note: QUL is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means saying in any way possible. QUL is an order addressed to a singular. It means: say/ respond.
la taAAtathiroo: do not explain/ excuse yourselves
Note: LA is an order or a request not to do the following action. taAATATHIROO is derived from the root Ain-TH-R and it means: excusing or bring a reasonable excuse for an action or inaction. TaAATATHIROO is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means: the action of seeking excuse for one self is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural).

Numina: feel safe/ trust/ believe
Note: NUMIN is derived from the root Hamza-M-N and it means safety. Conceptually, it can also be extended to trust as well, because we feel safe in the entity we trust. NUMINU is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of making oneself safe/ trust/ believe is happening or will be happening by the subject (first person plural).
Lakum: to you (plural)
Qad: indeed/ a beginning of a sentence.
Nabbaana: He informed us
Note: the root is N-B-Hamza and it means news or information. NABBAANA is an action that is completed. It means the action of informing or giving news to the object (NA= us) happened by the subject (third person singular pointing to Allah)

Akhbarikum: your information/ your news
Note: the root is KH-B-R and it means information or informing. AKHBARI means information of or news of. KUM is plural you.
Wasayara: and He will see
Note: WA here is for initiation of a new sentence. SAYARA is derived from the root R-Hamza-Y and it means viewing or seeing. SAYARA is an action that will be completed. It means: the action of seeing the object (AAaMALAKUM= your work) will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to Allah)
Allahu: Allah
AAamalakum: your (plural) work/ your doing
Note: the root is Ain-M-L and it means doing or work. AAaMALA means doing of or work of. KUM means plural you.
warasooluhu: and his messenger/ and His envoy
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. WA is often translated as an addition (and), but inclusion probably covers the meaning a little better. RASOOLUHU is derived from the root R-S-L and it means to envoy someone or a group of people or animals. The concrete word is RASL and it means a group of people or animals that were sent by their owners or senders. RUSULUN means messengers of and is the plural of RASOOL who is the one that is sent and is used to mean the messenger because he was sent by the sender to the receiver. RASOOLU means messenger of or the envoy of. HU means him and it points to Allah.

Turaddoona: you (plural) will be returned/ you are returned
Note: the root is R-D-D and it means: making an entity return to a point of beginning. This is the general conceptual meaning and it takes meanings of repelling or other forms of “making return” that are dictated by the context of the text. TURADDOONA is an action that is happening or will be happening. The context points to the future here. It means: the action of being returned is happening to the object (second person plural) will be happening through an undeclared subject.
Ila: to/ towards
AAalimi: knower of
Note: the root is Ain-L-M and it means knowing or knowledge of facts. AAaLIMI means knower of.
Alghaybi: the unseen/ the hidden/ the unperceived
Note: the root is GH-Y-B or GHAIN-Y-B and it means unperceived in general. One concrete word is the word for thick forest where many things are hidden and unperceived as opposed to the open desert that the Arabs were familiar with. This is then conceptually taken to anything that disappears or becomes as if it disappeared in the forest. ALGHAYB is the unseen/ unperceived/hidden
Waalshshahadati: the witnessed/ the apparent
Note: WA here is for contrasting with the previous word. ALSHSHAHADATI is derived from the root SH-H-D and it means witnessing of truth and it also denotes that the witness knows very well what he or she is witnessing about. The concrete meaning is the honey mixed with wax therefore the wax is the witness of the truth that the honey is the honey. Another concrete meaning is the baby that was just born and is covered with a membrane. In both, there is close association which is proof or witness of the fact. ALSHSHAHADATI is the witnessed which has to be apparent.
Fayunabbiokum: So He informs you/ So he tells you
Note: FA means so or therefore or then. YUNABBIOKUM is derived from the root N-B-Hamza and it means news or information. YUNABBIOKUM is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means the action of informing or giving news to the object (KUM=plural you) is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to Allah)
Bima: by what/ for what
Note: BI signifies an attachment or close linkage between what is before and what is after it. In a Verbal sentence it can mean attachment to the action or to the subject as it does the action. This attachment can then signify many things according to the verb and to the sentence and so on. In this sentence it signifies tools of why they were taken.
Kuntum: you (plural) happened to be/ were
Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KUNTUM is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (second person plural). This in turn means: you (plural) happened to be

Note: the root is Ain-M-L and it means doing or work. TaAAaMALOONA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of doing or making is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural). The combination of Kuntum TaAAMALOON gives the impression of this: you happened to be doing or you happened to do.
