قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُمْ مَّن يَهْدِيۤ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَهْدِي لِلْحَقِّ أَفَمَن يَهْدِيۤ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن يُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لاَّ يَهِدِّيۤ إِلاَّ أَن يُهْدَىٰ فَمَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ

 

qul hal min shurakāikum man yahdī ilā l-aqi quli l-lahu yahdī lil`aqqi afaman yahdī ilā l-aqi aaqqu an yuttabaʿa amman lā yahiddī illā an yuh`dā famā lakum kayfa takumūna

 

The Aya says:

Say (O Muhammad): are there any of your partners (With Allah) who guides to the truth?  Respond:  Allah guides to the truth.  So, is the one that guides to the truth more worthy of being followed or the one who cannot unless he is shown guidance?! So how do you arrive at conclusion?!

 

My personal note:

The Aya talks to our logic.  It challenges the people that if you prefer to follow the one that benefits you most, then how come you end up worshipping the one that lacks those capabilities.  It makes for poor reasoning.  The Aya and others like it talk to our minds and reasoning and establishes that correct reasoning has to agree with correct transmission and understanding of revelation.

 

Translation of the transliterated words:

qul: Say/ ask

Note: QUL is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means saying in any way possible. QUL is a demand or request addressed to a singular.  It means: say or respond.  In this context it takes the meaning of ask.

 

Hal: is there?

Min: amongst

Shurakāikum: the ones you partner with Allah

Note: Shurakaikum is derived from the root SH-R-K and it means partner or partnership and with this partnership is a measure of equality or being on par.  SHURAKAI means partners of.  KUM means plural you. Here partners mean the partners that they associated with God.

 

Man: who

 

 Yahdī: guides

Note: YAHDEE is derived from the root H-D-Y and it means gift in all it’s forms and it carries the meaning of guidance since guidance is a gift.  YAHDEE Is an action that is being completed or will be completed.  It means that the action of guiding is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular)

 

Ilā: towards

l-aqi: The truth/ the binding truth

Note: ALHAQQI is derived from the root Note: the root is Ha-Qaf-Qaf and it means binding right where right means correct as well s what is due to one person (rights and obligations). ALHAQQ means binding right or binding truth.

Quli: respond

yuttabaʿa: to be joined and followed/ to be followed

Note: YUTTABaAAa is derived from the root T-B-Ain and it means following footsteps or join and follow footsteps. YUTTABaAAa is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of being joined and followed it happening or will be happening by the subject (first person singular)..

 

Amman: or who

lā yahiddī: does not guide

Note: LA is for negation of the coming actioni.  YAHIDDI is derived from the root H-D-Y and it means gift in all it’s forms and it carries the meaning of guidance since guidance is a gift.  YAHIDDI Is an action that is being completed or will be completed.  It means that the action of guiding is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular)

 

Illā: except/ if not

An: that

yuh`dā: He is shown guidance

Note: YUHDA is derived from the root H-D-Y and it means gift in all it’s forms and it carries the meaning of guidance since guidance is a gift.  YUHDA Is an action that is being completed or will be completed.  It means that the action of being shown guidance is happening or will be happening to the object (third person singular) by an undeclared subject.

famā lakum: So how about you (plural)

kayfa: how?

takumūna: do you arrive to judgment

Note: the root Ha-K-M and it means the steer that steers the animal. This word is used for ruling and judging as well as other meanings that contain steering as part of the concept. TAHKUMOON is an action that is being completed or will be completed.  It means:  the action of arriving at judgment is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural).

qul hal min shurakāikum man yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu quli l-lahu yabda-u l-khalqa thumma yuʿīduhu fa-annā tu`fakūna

 

The Aya says:

Ask (Oh Muhammad): is there anyone of the ones you partner (with Allah) who initiates the creation then resurrects it?!  Respond: Allah initiates the creation then resurrected it.  So how come you get misdirected?!

 

My personal note:

The Aya continues with matters they agree with him on.  They acknowledge that Allah initiated the creation and rejuvenates it/ revives it.  So, the Aya says how come you know this but still get misdirected or turned around?

The word has many little other meanings that revolve around that theme, in concrete, it means the smoothened rock that was shaped that way, so it has the cutting and shaping and making things as part of the meaning as well as creating out of nothing as well.  ALKHALQA is the act of creation and it also can point to the product of that act.  So, it can me the creating or the creation.

 

Thumma: then

yuʿīduhu: He returns it/ He brings it back

Note: YuAAeeDUHU is derived from the root Ain-W-D and it means repeat. It can also mean return since the return is a repetition of previous position. YuAAeeDUHU is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of repetition or returning of the object (HU=him/ the creation) is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular)

 

Quli: respond

Note: QUL is derived from the root Qaf-W-L and it means saying in any way possible. QUL is a demand or request addressed to a singular.  It means: say or respond. 

 

l-lahu: Allah

It is also used for the land that is turned upside down by a disaster or wind or otherwise.  Tu’FAKUNA is an action that is happening or will be happening.  It means: the action of misdirection and turned around happened to the object (plural you) by an undeclared subject.

كَذَلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوۤاْ أَنَّهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ

 

kadhālika aqqat kalimatu rabbika ʿalā alladhīna fasaqū annahum lā yu`minūna

 

The Aya says:

As such, the statement of your nurturing Lord became binding upon those who drifted away.  That they do not attain faith.

 

My personal note:

The Aya is clear about the consequence for those who drift from the path of Allah and chose another path that they may not attain faith.  So, the Aya in a sense tells us to pay attention and not to willingly ignore the truth that is staring us in the face.  The moment that we start moving back to the path then the possibility of attaining faith increases.

 

Translation of the transliterated words:

 

kadhālika: As such

aqqat: became binding

Note:  HAQQAT is derived from the root Note: the root is Ha-Qaf-Qaf and it means binding right where right means correct as well s what is due to one person (rights and obligations). HAQQAT is an action that is completed.  It means: the action of becoming binding happened to the subject (Kalimatu- statement of).

Kalimatu: Statement of/ judgement of

Note: KALIMATU is derived from the root K-L-M and it means wound or opening of the skin and that is the concrete word. It is also used to mean words or statements because those are the products of the opening of the mouth, which is an opening of the skin. Here it is used for word or statement. KALIMATU means statement of.

 

Rabbika: your nurturing Lord

Note: the root is R-B-B and it means nurturing and Lordship as two components of the meaning that can be present together or one at a time according to the context of the sentence.   RABBI is nurturing Lord of.  KA is for singular you.

 

ʿalā: upon

Alladhīna: those who

Fasaqū: drifted away/ ruptured

Note: the root  is F-S-Qaf and it means in concrete when the seed is out of it’s pod or when the rat is out of her house or causing harm to the regular path of the people. So, it is used for someone leaving the path or someone harming the safety of it. This is then understood as when one is out of the right place for them. In the Qur’an, it is used to mean being outside of God’s way.  FASAQOO is an action that is competed.  It means the connection or road were left by the subject (third person plural).

Annahum: that they

lā yu`minūna: do not attain faith

Note: LA is for negation of the action that follows.  YUMINOON is derived from the root Hamza-M-N Hamza-M-N and it means safe or safety. YUMINOO is an action that is derived from the root and that is completed. It means: the action of making the subject become safe is happening or will be happening. So, it ends up meaning for the term LA liyuminoo: they will not to attain faith.
