9:96

Salaam all,

9:96
يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْاْ عَنْهُمْ فَإِن تَرْضَوْاْ عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَرْضَى عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ
Yahlifoona lakum litardaw AAanhum fain tardaw AAanhum fainna Allaha la yarda AAani alqawmi alfasiqeena

The aya says:
They swear to you (plural) so that you will be content with them. So, if you are content with them, then Allah is not/ will not be content with the deviant people.

My personal note:
I translated FASIQEEN as deviant people in the sense that they deviate off the path, which is the translation of the root F-S-Q as someone who drifts from the path or is off the path and so on.
The Aya tells us about the reasoning for swearing falsely about what they did or did not do. However, the Aya emphasizes that deviating from the path of Allah is a reason for Allah not to be content with us.

Translation of the transliterated words:

Yahlifoona: they swear
Note: it is derived from the root HA-L-F and it means swearing an oath. YAHLIFOON is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of swearing happens or will happen by the subject (third person plural)

Lakum: to you (plural)
Litardaw: in order to be content/ so that you (plural) be content
Note: Li means to or in order to or so. TARDAW is derived from the root R-Dhad-Y and it means accepting lovingly or being content with. TARDAW is an action that is happening or will be completed. It means: the action of lovingly accepting or being is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural).
AAanhum: about them
Fain: so if
Tardaw: you are content/ you are accepting lovingly
Note: TARDAW is derived from the root R-Dhad-Y and it means accepting lovingly or being content with. TARDAW is an action that is happening or will be completed. It means: the action of lovingly accepting or being is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural).

AAanhum: with them/ about them
Fainna: then/ then indeed
Allaha: Allah
la yarda: in not content/ will not be content
Note: LA is for negation of the action that comes next. YARDA is derived from the root R-Dhad-Y and it means accepting lovingly or being content with. YARDA is an action that is happening or will be completed. It means: the action of lovingly accepting or being is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular).
AAani: with/ about
Alqawma: the people
Note: ALQAWMA is derived from the root Qaf-Y-M and it means standing or standing upright. ALQAWMA are the people that stand together and that makes the group or people or nation, basically, any group of people that stand together or form a group.
Alfasiqeena: the drifters from the path/ the deviant

Note: the root is F-S-Qaf and it means in concrete when the seed is out of it’s pod or when the rat is out of her house or causing harm to the regular path of the people. So, it is used for someone leaving the path or someone harming the safety of it. This is then understood as when one is out of the right place for them. In the Qur’an, it is used to mean being outside of God’s path. ALFASIQEEN are the ones who drift from the path

Salaam all and have a great day

Hussein
