1:4 مالك يوم الدين
.[1:4]
Maliki yawmi alddeeni
Maliki: Owner of
Yawmi: Day
Alddeeni: The Judgement/The obligation
The word Deen and it’s derivatives come with different meanings in the Qur’an. They all have the same root DEEN. The meanings were Religion, Judgement, Debt. In Hebrew the word means LAW. Therefore the essence of the Root, to me, is OBLIGATION which is consistent with all the other meanings, and will be my preferred word (and GOD knows best)
My Note:
Owner of the day of the obligation(The day that all are obligated to attend. And/ or the day when all will face their obligations to GOD, whether they met them or not. All is consistent with the day of Judgement)
We shall meet tomorrow inshallah

1:3 الرحمن الرحيم
1:3 Alrrahmani alrraheemi
Arrahman: The compassionate
Alrraheemi: The merciful.
Note: Merciful is the word that is most often used, however, this is a word that is very difficult to translate. The origin comes from “RHM” which means the WOMB. Therefore in order to imagine what this word actually means you have to imagine the WOMB and what it does to the fetus. It nurtures, protects, provides warmth, provides love…….
And I will see you tomorrow

1:2 الحمد لله رب العالمين
.[1:2]
Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena
The Aya says:
“The praise belongs to the GOD, Nurturer/ Sustainer of all.
My personal note:
This is very important since the first phrase starts with Praise. It says that The Praise is GOD’s. He is the one that praises the ones that are worthy of praise.
Translation of thetransliterated words:
Alhamdu: The praise
Lillahi: To the GOD/belongs to the GOD
Rabbi: Nurturer/Sustainer (of).
Note: This is another very interesting word. RABB in Arabic is used most often to mean GOD. However it can also mean Raiser (the one that helps us grow in any sense of the word). This meaning is very consistent with the concept of GOD in Islam. It is also consistent with the Hebrew meaning of Rabbi as teacher (He/she helps us grow). Therefore I used the word nurturer/sustainer. It is not exactly the same but it comes close.
alAAalameena: The Worlds/ everything and everyone/all
AAalameen is a derivative of the word Ain-L-M which comes from Knowledge or knowing. Therefore al AAalameen is the plural of AAaLAM and that word means known. This makes Al AAaLAMEEN meaan The knowns, in the most concrete form. Since GOD knows everyone and everything, then THE KNOWNS are Everyone and Everything, basically all.

The beginnning
Good morning,
Today I start with the first verse of the First Sura of the Qur'an. The first Sura is AlFatiha and it means the openner of the Qur'an and the first verse is going to be the first verse of all the other Suras except for one.
Al Fatiha
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
1.[1:1]
Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi
The Aya says:
In/by name of the GOD the compassionate the merciful
My personal note:
“We start with the name of the GOD, the compassionate, the nurturer, the protecter, the merciful (and all the other attributes that the womb provides)”
Translation of the transliterated words.
Bism: in/by/with name
Note: ISM means name. The root is S-M-W and it means rising. The relationship between the rising and the name is that when the name is called, then the person rises or responds to it.
Allahi: The GOD
Arrahman: The compassionate.
Alrraheemi: The merciful.
Note: Merciful is the word that is most often used, however, this is a word that is very difficult to translate. The origin comes from “R-Ha-M” which means WOMB. Therefore in order to imagine what this word actually means you have to imagine the WOMB and what it does to the fetus. It nurtures, protects, provides warmth, provides love…(All at the same time)….
Salaam all and have a great day
