2:163

Salaam all,

This is 2:163
وَإِلَـهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ لاَّ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ
Wailahukum ilahun wahidun la ilaha illa huwa arrahmanu arraheem

The Aya says:
And your (plural you) GOD is one. No GOD but HIM, the compassionate, the merciful.

My personal note:
The Aya repeats the important creed of muslims and that there is no GOD but GOD. IT means that there is only one GOD.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Wailahukum: And your (plural you) GOD
Note: WA means And. ILAHU means GOD of. KUM means you in a plural sense
Ilahun: GOD
Wahidun: One
Note: the root is W-Ha-D and it means oneness or being one. WAHID means one.
la ilaha: No GOD
illa: except/but
huwa: HIM
arrahmanu: The compassionate
Note: this is a word that is very difficult to translate. It is derived from the root R-Ha-M which is the word for womb. The word RAHMAN is probably of Hebrew or Aramaic origin that made it to the Qur’an. It is used to means compassionate.
Arraheem: The merciful/the one with the womb like mercy
Note: The root is R-Ha-M and it means womb for the concrete meaning. RAHEEM is the one that treats others as the womb treats the fetus.

Salaam all and have a great day

Hussein
