8:33

Salaam all,

8:33
وَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنتَ فِيهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

Wama kana Allahu liyuAAaththibahum waanta feehim wama kana Allahu muAAaththibahum wahum yastaghfiroona

The Aya says:
And Allah was not to torture them while you (Muhammad) are amongst them, and Allah was not torturing them while they are asking forgiveness/ protective cover.

My personal note:
This Aya brings about an important message to humanity that as long as they have pious people amongst them and as long as they pray for forgiveness and protection from Allah then they are protected from overwhelming forms of suffering that lead to total destruction.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Wama: and not
Kana: was/ happened to be
Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KANA is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (third personal singular or plural). This in turn means: He was or He happened to be
Allahu: Allah
liyuAAaththibahum: to make them suffer/ to torture them
Note: Li means to. YuAAaTHTHIBAHUM is derived from the root Ain-TH-B and it means an easy to swallow food or drink. AAaTHAB is what makes one not take an easy to swallow food or drink. YuAAaTHTHIBA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: The action of making the object (HUM= them) suffer is happening or will be happening by the subject (Third person singular pointing to Allah)
Waanta: while you (singular)
Feehim: in them/ amongst them/ one of them
Wama: and not

muAAaththibahum: making them suffer

Wahum: while they
Yastaghfiroona: ask forgiveness/ ask protection
Note: the root is GH-F-R or Gghain-F-R and it means covering for protection. The concrete word is the helmet of the fighter. YASTAGHFIROON is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means: the action of asking for protection or forgiveness is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person plural).

Salaam all and have a great day
