أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وِأَصْحَابِ مَدْيَنَ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتِ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَـكِن كَانُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Alam yatihim nabao allatheena min qablihim qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waqawmi ibraheema waashabi madyana waalmutafikati atathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
The Aya says:
Did not arrive to them the news of the people of Noah and AAad and Thamud and the people of Abraham and the companions of Madian and the flipped over towns. Their messengers came to them with the clarifiers. So, it was not for Allah to treat them unfairly but they were unfair to themelves.
My personal note:
The Aya brings to the rejecters the examples of people they heard or knew about and who had bad outcomes as part of their stubbornness in responding poorly the message. The Aya points that those people were unjust to their own selves in the ways they acted.
Madian is a name of a person and a place. The two may be related as in the place is where the person and his offspring lived. Some books of the Tafsir mention that he was a son of Abraham which is also mentioned in the bible. In the Qur’an the place is mentioned within two contexts. One is the story of Shuaib who advised his people of Madian to worship Allah alone and also be fair in their sales and measures (They cheated apparently). They refused and were punished. The other story is the arrival of Moses to Madian where he was given refuge for a few years before returning to Egypt.
Translation of the transliterated words:

Yatihim: come to them/ arrive to them
Note: the root is Hamza-T-Y and it means in concrete the water that comes from the rain of another land. In concrete it means the coming or brining of something or someone with many of it’s implications. YATI is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of coming or bringing is happening or will be happening by the subject (NABAO= news of) to the subject (HIM=them).

Note: the root is N-B-Hamza and it means news. NABAO means news of.
Allatheena: those who
Min: from
Qablihim: before them
Note: the root Qaf-B-L and it means front. This is then carried in time or space or any plain of thought. If it is in time, then front means before, while place would be in front. It is used to mean acceptance and reception since we receive and accept using our fronts. QABLI here is front in time and that is before. HIM means them.
Qawmi: people of
Note: QAWMI is derived from the root Qaf-Y-M and it means standing or standing upright. QAWMUN are the people that stand together and that makes the group or people or nation, basically, any group of people that stand together or form a group. QAWMI means people of.
Noohin: Noah
waAAadin: And AAad
wathamooda: And Thamood
waqawmi: and people of

Note: WA here is for contrasting with the previous words. ALMUTAFIKATI is derived from the root Hamza-F-K and it means when an entity misses a target or gets misplaced. In concrete it is given to the land that the rain skips and anything out of place. It is also used for the land that is turned upside down by a disaster or wind or otherwise. ALMUTAFIKATU are the towns that flipped upside down and that points to the towns of the people of Lot.
Atathum: came to them
Note: the root is Hamza-T-Y and it means coming with determination. The concrete word is for the water that flows in a place where it did not rain, therefore suggesting that the water came from somewhere else. ATAT is an action that is completed. It means: the action of coming to the object (HUMU= them) happened by the subject (third person plural)
Rusuluhum: heir messengers/ their envoys
Note: RUSULUHUM is derived from the root R-S-L and it means to envoy someone or a group of people or animals. The concrete word is RASL and it means a group of people or animals that were sent by their owners or senders. RUSULUN means messengers of and is the plural of RASOOL who is the one that is sent and is used to mean the messenger because he was sent by the sender to the receiver. Bialbayyinati: with the clarifiers/ with the self evident
Note: BI signifies an attachment or close linkage between what is before and what is after it. In a Verbal sentence it can mean attachment to the action or to the subject as it does the action. This attachment can then signify many things according to the verb and to the sentence and so on. ALBAYYINAT is derived from the root B-Y-N and it means in concrete between. The action of the verb is betweening. This betweening can mean clarifying because one can know better the difference between two things. It also can mean distancing because the betweening makes things become apart. ALBAYYINAT are things that are clear in themselves and also help clarify other things.

Note: KANA is derived from the root K-W-N and it means being. KANA is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (third personal singular or plural). This in turn means: He was or He happened to be. FAMA KANA together means: so it is not or it was not

It means the action of misplacing/ transgressing or acting unjustly/ unfairly is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular) of the object (HUM= them).

Note: YATHLIMOON is derived from the root THA-L-M and it means darkness in the most concrete form. This word also takes the meaning of misplacing right from wrong and transgression or injustice since injustice is displacing right from wrong and a decision made in darkness.
