lahumu l-bush`rā fī l-ḥayati l-dun`yā wafī l-ākhirati lā tabdīla likalimāti l-lahi
dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu
The Aya says:
To them belongs the glad tidings in this
life and the next. No change to Allah’s
statements. This is the great win.
My personal note:
The Aya promises the people mentioned
before of glad tidings and reassures them that Allah’s statements giving them
glad tidings are unchanging.
Translation of the transliterated words:
lahumu: to
them belongs
l-bush`rā: the glad tidings
Note: the root is B-SH-R and it means the outer skin
of people. This is also a sign of beauty and good news in the abstract. ALBUSHRA is the glad tidings/ good news
Fī: in/on
l-ḥayati: the life
Note: ALHAYATI is derived from the root
ALHAYATI is derived from the root Ha-Y-W
and it means life or movement. The two are related since movement is a sign of
life to the Arabs. Conceptually, the
term can take other meanings including greetings and shyness as well according
to the context. The relationship is that
Arabs before Islam used to greet each other by wishing a good and long
life. In here, it takes the meaning of
greetings. ALHAYATI means the life.
Alddunya:
the
near/ the nearer/ this life
Note: the root is D-N-W and it means nearness or nearing.
ALDUNYA means the near. In this case, it points to this life that we are living
in as the near. ALDDUNYA is also this life that we are
living. ALHAYATI ALDDUNYA means this
life.
Wafī: and
in
l-ākhirati: the next life/ the remaining life
Note: The root is Hamza-KH-R and it means
remaining. In this context it takes the
meaning of staying extra or delaying.
ALAKHIRATI is the delayed life or the next life and so on.
lā tabdīla: no change/no switching
Note: LA is for negation of what comes
after. Tabdil is derived from the root B-D-L and it means
exchanging and that is to alter or change the nature or attribute of something
or exchange something for something else.
TABDIL means change/ switch or exchange.
Likalimāti: to statements of
Note: LI means to or for. KALIMAT is derived from the root K-L-M and it means
wound or opening of the skin and that is the concrete word. It is also used to
mean words or statements because those are the products of the opening of the
mouth, which is an opening of the skin. Here it is used for word or statement.
KALIMATI means statements of.
l-lahi: Allah
dhālika: that
huwa: He/
it
l-fawzu: the
win/ the success
Note:
the root is F-W-Z and it means winning in a good fashion. ALFAWZU means the win
or the success.
alAAatheemu: the great
Note: the root is Ain-TH-M and it means
great/hard/strong. The concrete word is AAaTHM and that is the bones or the
hard/strong/firm core of things. ALAAaTHEEM means the great.
