2:281

Salaam all,

This is 2:281
وَاتَّقُواْ يَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى اللّهِ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لاَ يُظْلَمُونَ
Waittaqoo yawman turjaAAoona feehi ila Allahi thumma tuwaffa kullu nafsin ma kasabat wahum la yuthlamoona

The Aya says:
And make yourselves conscious of a day, in which you will be returned to Allah. Then, each self will be made to meet dues (of) what she earned. And they will not be treated unfairly.

My personal note:
The Aya continues the theme. It asks us to be conscious of the day when we meet our creator. At that time, we will be made to meet the consequences of our actions. God also reminds us of his justice and that we will not be treated unfairly.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Waittaqoo: and make yourselves conscious of
Note: Wa means and. ITTAQOO is derived from the root W-Qaf-W and it means guarding or protecting. Since the best way to guard is through consciousness, I use the meaning consciousness here. ITTAQOO is an order to perform an action that is addressing a group of people. It means make yourselves conscious of or be conscious of.
Yawman: a day
Note: the root is Y-W-M and it means day. YAWMAN means a day and it spans a day and night cycle
turjaAAoona: you (plural) will be returned
Note: the root is R-J-Ain and it means returning to where one was. TURJaAAooNA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of returning is happening or will be happening by an unverified subject to the object (second person plural). It ends up meaning: you will be returned.
Feehi: in him
Ila: To
Allahi: Allah/God
Thumma: then
Note: this is a sequence in time or space or any plane of thought.
Tuwaffa: She will be made to meet her due
Note: the root is W-F-Y and it means meeting dues. TUWAFFA is an action that is derived from the root and that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of making dues being met is happening or will be happening by an unnamed subject to the object (third person singular feminine pointing to Kullu nafsin that is coming up).
Kullu: each/every
Note: the root is K-L-L and it means the parts put together. This is the concrete and it means all or every or each. KULLU means each or every in this situation.
Nafsin: Self
Note: NAFS means a self. It is a derivative of the root N-F-S and it means to breath. NAFSIN is a noun that is derived from this root and it means SELF.
Ma: What
Kasabat: She earned/she collected
Note: the root is K-S-B and it means earning or collecting. KASABAT is an action that is completed and that is derived from the root. It means: the action of earning of collecting happened by the subject (third person singular feminine pointing to Nafsin)
Wahum: and they
La: not
Yuthlamoona: will be transgressed against/will be treated unfairly
Note: the root is THa-L-M and it means darkness. This is one of the concrete meanings and it is used to mean decisions made in darkness which include transgression and displacement of right and wrong. YUTHLaMOONA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of being transgressing is happening or will be happening by the subject (unmentioned) to the object (third person plural). This in turn means: they will not be transgressed against or they will not be treated unfairly.

Salaam all and have a great day

Hussein
