9:75

Salaam all,

9:75
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَاهَدَ اللّهَ لَئِنْ آتَانَا مِن فَضْلِهِ لَنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Waminhum man AAahada Allaha lain atana min fadlihi lanassaddaqanna walanakoonanna mina alssaliheena

The Aya says:
And amongst them who promised Allah that if He provided us from His bounty then we shall indeed give to charity and we shall indeed be amongst the righteous.

My personal note:
This is a beginning of a statement that will be completed in the coming Ayat. It brings about how people make promises to Allah at times but perhaps rarely meet them or get to become arrogant instead.


Translation of the transliterated words:

Waminhum: and amongst them/ and from them
Man: who
AAahada: made an oath with/ promised
Note: the root is Ain-H-D and it means a promise or a demand to promise or both. It also includes the fulfillment and meeting the promise. AAaHADA is an action that is completed. It means: the action of making an oath in an interactive manner happened by the subject (third person singular or plural)

Allaha: Allah
Lain: that if
Atana: He gave us/ He brought us
Note: the root is Hamza-T-Y and it means coming with determination. The concrete word is for the water that flows in a place where it did not rain, therefore suggesting that the water came from somewhere else. ATA is an action that is completed. It means: the action of bringing about the object (min Fadlihi=from His bounty) to the other object (NA=us) happened by the subject (third person singular pointing to Allah)

Min: from
Fadlihi: His bounty/ blessing. Ample supply of good
Note: the root is F-Dhad-L and it means overflowing of good, or the remaining of the good thing after it has been utilized. It indicates many meanings and one of them is the bounty of good, the presence of more than needed of it and so foth. FADLI means bounty or blessing of/ ample supply of good. HI means him and points to God.
Lanassaddaqanna: Then we will indeed give charity
Note: LA is for emphasis of action. NASSADAQANNA is derived from the root Sad-D-Qaf and it means truth in word or deed as a concept. When it is in deed, it takes the shape of any act of truthfulness including charity. This is because their action prove the truth of their words. NASSADAQANNA is an action that is a response to the conditional with emphasis. It means: We shall indeed give charity.
Walanakoonanna: and we will indeed be
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. WA is often translated as an addition (and), but inclusion probably covers the meaning a little better. LA is for emphasis. NAKOONANNA is derived from the root K-W-N and it means being. NAKOONaNNA is an action that is being completed or will be completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened is happening or will be happening by the subject (first person plural) with emphasis as a response to the conditional.
Mina: of/ from
Alssaliheena: the righteous / of the good deeds
Note: ALSSALIHEEN is derived from the root Sad-L-Ha and it means becoming helpful or useful in a good direction. This means mainly: becoming one of benefit as in benefiting oneself and others. Included in this meaning is becoming fixed after having been broken. ALSSALIHEEN then here the people of righteousness/ good deeds and deeds of benefit.
