3:31

Salaam all,

This is 3:31
قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Qul in kuntum tuhibboona Allaha faittabiAAoonee yuhbibkumu Allahu wayaghfir lakum thunoobakum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun

The Aya says:
Say (O Muhammad) if you (plural) happened to love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive your sins. And Allah (is) forgiving, merciful.

My personal note:
The Aya is a reminder of the importance of love between people and God. It reminds people that they earn God’s love through following the teachings of his messenger. When they earn God’s love, He will provide them with protective cover against errors or sins. This protective cover protects from committing the error or from the effect of the error through forgiveness. It ends with the reminder of God’s mercy and protection/forgiveness to people.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Qul: Say
Note: Note: the root is Qaf-WL and it means saying. QUL is an order addressing a single person and it means: Say
In: if
Kuntum: you (plural) were/ you (plural) happened to be
Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KUNTUM is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (second person plural). This in turn means: you were or you happened to be
Tuhibboona: You (plural) love
Note: the root is Ha-B-B and it means seed in concrete and also love. The two may be related in the fact that the seed is a product of love. TUHIBBOONA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of loving is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural) to the object (Allah, coming up). Because it came after Kuntum, then the sentence will take the meaning of: if you happened to be loving.
Allaha: Allah
faittabiAAoonee: then make yourselves follow me or join me
Note: FA means then or therefore or so. ITTABIAAooNI is derived from the root T-B-Ain and it means following footsteps or following behind, or joining and following. ITTABiAAoo is an order for action addressing a group. It means: make yourselves follow or join and follow the object NI which means me.
Yuhbibkumu: He will love you
Note: the root is Ha-B-B and it means seed in concrete and also love. The two may be related in the fact that the seed is a product of love. YUHBIB is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of loving is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to Allah) to the object KUMU which means plural you.
Allahu: Allah
Wayaghfir: and He forgives/ and he protectively cover
Note: WA means and. YAGHFIR is derived from the root GH-F-R and it means the helmet of the soldier in the battle. This is one of the concrete words and the word is therefore used to mean protective covering in many fashions as in protecting the person from the error or protecting the person from the consequence of error and that is forgiveness. YAGHFIRU is an action that is derived from the root and that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of protectively covering is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to God). The object is thunoobakum=your sins and is coming up.
Lakum: To you (plural)
Thunoobakum: your sins/ your guilts
Note: the root is th-n-b and it means tail of an animal. However, it also has the meaning of sin or crime or error. Thunooba means sins or crimes of. KUM means plural you.
waAllahu: And Allah
ghafoorun: forgiving/ protectively covering
Note: the root is GH-F-R and it means covering for protection. The concrete word is the helmet of the fighter. GHAFOORUN is the one that covers to protect. This, in turn means protection from committing the sin and protection from the consequences of sin, which also means forgiving.
Raheemun: Merciful
Note: the root is R-Ha-M and it means womb in concrete. This term is used to mean mercy and all the good that the womb provides. RAHEEM is the one with the womb-like mercy.

Salaam all and have a great day

Hussein
