wa-immā
nuriyannaka baʿḍa alladhī naʿiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilaynā marjiʿuhum thumma l-lahu shahīdun ʿalā mā yafʿalūna
The Aya
says:
And
whether we show you (O Muhammad) some of what We promise them or we take you,
then their return is to us then Allah is witness on what they do.
My
personal note:
The Aya
informs Muhammad (upon him be peace) that Allah may show him in his life some
of what was promised. However it also
informs Muhammad as well that when he dies Allah is still witnessing what they
do and will deal with it accordingly and that they still all come back to Allah
on the day of judgment. The message is
that What Allah promises will happen whether we live to see it or we die before
it.
Translation
of the transliterated words:
wa-immā:
and whether
nuriyannaka:
We show you (singular)
Note: NURIYANNAKA is
derived from the root is R-Hamza-Y and it means viewing or seeing. NURIYANNAKA

action of promising the object (HUM=them) is happening or will be happening by
the subject (first person plural).
Aw: or
Natawaffayannaka:
We take you/ We take your
soul
Note:
the root is W-F-Y and it means meeting dues. This then takes different meanings
according to the plane of thought of the sentence. One meaning could be death
since it is a meeting of dues, or just a taking of someone or something
depending on the situation, or other forms of meeting dues. NATAWAFFAYANNAKA is
an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of
making the object (KA=singular you) meet dues is happening or will be happening
by the subject (first person plural). So, here the meeting of the dues is us
being taken or soul taken, basically meeting the dues of this life.
fa-ilaynā: So to us/ So towards us
marjiʿuhum: their return
Note: the root is R-J-Ain and it means returning.
MARJiAAu is place and time of the return or just the return at a designated

the root is SH-H-D and it means witnessing of truth and it also denotes that
the witness knows very well what he or she is witnessing about. The concrete
meaning is the honey mixed with wax therefore the wax is the witness of the

which is proof or witness of the fact. SHAHIDUN means witnessing or testifying.

wayawma
yaḥshuruhum ka-an lam yalbathū illā sāʿatan mina l-nahāri yataʿārafūna baynahum qad khasira
alladhīna kadhabū biliqāi l-lahi wamā kānū muh`tadīna
The Aya
says:
And day
when He gathers them, as if they did not stay but an hour of the daytime. They recognize each other. Indeed, the ones who denied meeting Allah
have lost and they were not guided.
My
personal note:
The Aya
reminds us that there will be a day when we all meet Allah. If we deny that meeting then we are on the losing
end of things. We must always prepare
for that meeting. May Allah guide us to what
is best.
Translation
of the transliterated words:
wayawma:
and day when
Note: WA here for starting a new sentence that is
somewhat linked with the previous one.
YAWMA is derived from the root Y-W-M and it means day or a full time
cycle. YAWMA means a day or a time cycle when.
Yahshuruhum:
He gathers them/ He collects them
Note:
the root is Ha-SH-R and it means gathering. One concrete meaning of the word is
small creatures of the land as the insects. The relationship is the fact that
they gather in big numbers in one place as to eat and so forth. YAHSHURUHUM is
an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of
gathering the object (HUM= them) in one place is going to be made to happen by
the subject (third person singular).
ka-an: As if
lam
yalbathū: they
did not stay
Note:
the root is L-B-TH
and it means staying in the place or any form of staying. YALBATHOO is an
action that is derived from the root. IT means the action of staying is
happening or will be happened by the subject (third person plural). However, because it was preceded by the
negation (LAM). Then LAM Yalbathoo takes
the meaning of: they did not stay.
Illā: except/ if not
sāʿatan: an hour/ a portion of
Note: SaAAaTAN is derived from the root S-Ain-W or
S-Ain-Y and it means to hurry but not run nor wallk. For the abstract it means
to work on something with some enthusiasm as well as to aim for something. It may also point to a measure of time like
an hour. . SaAATANa means an hour or a
portion of the time.
Mina: of/ from
l-nahāri: of the daytime
Note: ALNNAHARI is derived
from the root N-H-R and one of the concrete meanings of the word is running
water or river. It is then used to mean running or flowing in many other
meanings and contexts according to the sentence. ALNAHARI means the daytime and
it’s relationship to the flowing could be due to the fact that the day is the
time when our activities are “flowing” or because of the flow of the light in
it.
yataʿārafūna: they recognize each other
Note: Note: the root is Ain-R-F and it means the
elevated place that is easily recognized from a distance such as a landmark or
so. YATaAARAFOON is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It
means: the action of recognition is happening or will be happening by the
subject (third person plural) in an interactive manner. This in turn takes the
meaning of recognizing each other.
Baynahum:
between them
Qad: indeed
Khasira:
lost
Note:
the root is KH-S-R and it means to lose or become defeated. KHASIRA is an action that is completed or
will be completed. It means: the action
of loss happened by the subject (third person plural or singular)
Alladhīna: those who
Kadhabū: Denied/ declared untrue
Note: the root is K-TH-B and it means a untrue. Conceptually, it can be extended at times to
mean a lie, although the core of the meaning is untruth, whether it is a lie or
not, conscious or not. KATHTHABOO is an
action that is happening or will be happening.
It means: the action of making untruth is happening or will be happening
by the subject (thid person plural). The
making of untruth can mean one of two things.
It means making a lie if followed by Ala and it means declaring
something a lie if followed by the Bi.
Biliqāi: in meeting
Note: BI signifies an attachment or close linkage between
what is before and what is after it. In
a Verbal sentence it can mean attachment to the action or to the subject as it
does the action. This attachment can
then signify many things according to the verb and to the sentence and so
on. In here it serves to make an object
for a verb that generally has no object.
LIQAI is derived from the root L-Qaf-Y and it means
receiving as a concept which would be understood more specifically according to
the sentence. Concrete uses of the word are a female that gets pregnant easily,
therefore she received the sperm well. It is also used for the birds that hunt
because they receive the prey easily and so forth. LIQAI means meeting of or receiving or being
received by.
l-lahi:
Allah
wamā kānū: and they were not
Note:
the root is K-W-N and it means being.
KANOO is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It
means: the action of being happened by the subject (third personal
plural). This in turn means: they were/
they happened to be. Because it is
preceded by the negation of WAMA the whole phrase takes the meaning of: and
they were not/ and they did not happen to be
muh`tadīna: guided
Note: the root is H-D-Y and it means gift in all it’s forms
and it carries the meaning of guidance since guidance is a gift. MUHTADEEN means guided.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لاَ يَظْلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيْئاً وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ

inna
l-laha lā yaẓlimu l-nāsa shayan walākinna l-nāsa anfusahum yaẓlimūna
The Aya
says:
Allah
does not treat people unjustly in a single thing. However, the people treat themselves
unjustly.
My
personal note:
The Aya
reminds that Allah is always just to the people. However, it also reminds us that when we commit
sins, then we are first and foremost committing an act of injustice and
transgression against our own selves.
Translation
of the transliterated words:
inna: indeed
l-laha:
Allah
lā yaẓlimu: does not treat unjustly/ does not transgress against
Note: LA YATHLIMU is
derived from the root THA-L-M and it means darkness in the most concrete form.
This word also takes the meaning of misplacing right from wrong and
transgression or injustice since injustice is displacing right from wrong and a
decision made in darkness. YATHLIMU is an action that is being completed or
will be completed. It means the action of misplacing/ transgressing or acting
unjustly/ unfairly is happening or will be happening by the subject (third
person singular) against the object (ALNNAS= the people). However the LA that preceded it points to a
negation of the action.
l-nāsa:
the people/ the society
Note: ALNASSI is derived from the root Hamza-N-S
and it means socializing. ALNNAS means the people or humans.
shayan: a thing
Note:
the root is SH-Y-Hamza and it means entity for noun and to entity for the
action. This means making a non entity become an entity, which also means
making what was impossible possible, or what was non existent, existent or what
was un-allowed allowed, and so forth.
SHAYAN means a thing or an entity.
Walākinna:
but instead/ instead
l-nāsa:
the people/ the society
Note: ALNASSI is derived from the root Hamza-N-S
and it means socializing. ALNNAS means the people or humans.
Anfusahum:
themselves
Note:
NAFS is derived from the root N-F-S and it means to breath. This is the concept
and then it can extend to self or anything that breathes. ANFUS is plural of
self. ANFUSA means selves of. HUM meansn them.
yaẓlimūna: they treat unjustly
Note:
YATHLIMOONA is derived from the root THA-L-M and it means darkness in the most
concrete form. This word also takes the meaning of misplacing right from wrong
and transgression or injustice since injustice is displacing right from wrong
and a decision made in darkness. YATHLIMOON is an action that is being completed
or will be completed. It means the action of misplacing/ transgressing or acting
unjustly/ unfairly is happening or will be happening by the subject (third
person plural) against the object (ANFUSAHUM= themselves).

وَمِنهُمْ مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيْكَ أَفَأَنْتَ تَهْدِي ٱلْعُمْيَ
وَلَوْ كَانُواْ لاَ يُبْصِرُونَ
wamin`hum
man yanẓuru ilayka afa-anta tahdī l-ʿum`ya walaw kānū lā yub`ṣirūna
The Aya
says:
And
amongst them those who observe you. Are
you going to guide the blind event though they do not see?!
My
personal note:
The
verse is pointing to those people who actually can see. However, they shut their insight and therefore
they are the only ones to open back up again.
In another verse of the Qur’an it
talks about the true blindness is the blindness of the hearts and minds and not
of the eyes.
Translation
of the transliterated words:
wamin`hum:
and amongst them/ and some
of them
man: who
yanẓuru: look/ observe/ watch
Note:
the root is N-THa-R and it means seeing/observing/watching with one side of the
meaning stronger than the others according to the situation. At times it means
giving reprieve or giving time to correct things and that stems from the
observing/watching as if it is time of observation/watching or waiting or given
time. YANTHURU is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It
means: the action of watching/ observing/ seeing is happening or will be
happening by the subject (third person plural or singular).
Ilayka:
at you (singular)/ towards you
afa-anta:
Is it you?!
Tahdī: guide
Note: TAHDI is derived from the root H-D-Y and it means gift in all it’s forms
and it carries the meaning of guidance since guidance is a gift. TAHDI Is an action that is being completed or
will be completed. It means that the
action of guiding the object (ALUMYA= the blind) is happening or will be
happening by the subject (second person singular)
l-ʿum`ya: the blind
Note: the root is Ain-M-Y and it
means blindness. ALUUMYA are the blind.
Walaw: even if
Kānū: they were
Note:
the root is K-W-N and it means being.
KANOO is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It
means: the action of being happened by the subject (third personal
plural). This in turn means: they were/
they happened to be.
lā yub`ṣirūna: not seeing/ with no insight
Note: The root is
B-Sad-R and it is the sense
of the eye. It also has the meaning of seeing deeply. Seeing deeply means the
concrete, but it can be applied to the deep vision of the brain, the insight. LA
YUBSIROONA is a negation of an action.
It means: the action of not seeing or not having insight is happening or
will be happening by the subject (third person plural).

wamin`hum
man yastamiʿūna ilayka afa-anta tus`miʿu l-ṣuma walaw kānū lā yaʿqilūna
The Aya
says:
And
some of them listen to you (singular). So will you make the deaf hear even
though they do not contemplate?!
My personal
note:
The
word SUMM is used to for deaf people or people with blockage so things do not
go to the destination. Literally the
deaf do not hear. However, the statement
here is throwing an example of people who close their minds or are dealing with
such strong denial that even though they hear the person things do not sink
in. The Aya also tells us that this is
their problem that they should open their minds and not keep them closed. So, Muslims then should be defined by open
mindedness and cannot be closed minded.
After all, the truth will never be threatened by open mindedness.
Translation
of the transliterated words:
wamin`hum:
and amongst them
man: who
yastamiʿūna: listen
Note:
the root is S-M-Ain and and it means hearing or hearing and understanding or
knowing and retaining at the same time. It also can mean hearing and approving
or concurring at times. YASTAMiDDNA is
an action that is happening or will be happening. It means: the action of listening is
happening by the subject (third person plural)
Ilayka:
to you (singular pointing to
Muhammad)
afa-anta:
is it you?
tus`miʿu: make hear/ make listen
Note:
the root is S-M-Ain and and it means hearing or hearing and understanding or
knowing and retaining at the same time. It also can mean hearing and approving
or concurring at times. TUSMiUU is an action that is happening or will be
happening. It means: the action of
making the object (ALSSUMMA= the deaf) listen or hear is happening or will be
happening by the subject.
l-ṣuma: the deaf/ the ones with a block
Note:
the root is Sad-M-M and it means blockage of some entity. The concrete word
SAMMAM means a certain kind of block that either blocks all thing or
selectively allows certain things in and keeps others out. Conceptually, the
term is used often for deafness or further for blocking anything from reaching
their minds. ALSSUMMA means deaf or blocked in hearing.
Walaw: even if
Kānū: they were
Note:
the root is K-W-N and it means being.
KANOO is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It
means: the action of being happened by the subject (third personal
plural). This in turn means: they were/
they happened to be.
lā yaʿqilūna: not processing/ not thinking/ not contemplating
Note: the root is
Ain-Qaf-L and it means tying the animal so that it does not go away. This is
the concrete word, but it is also used for any restraint or putting things
together as in tying the knot. The word is used for brain or thinking appropriately.
That could be because either that one who thinks appropriately is restraining
his thoughts from going astray, or that he is tying things together or both. YaAAQILOONA
is an action that is being completed or will be completed and that is derived
from the root. It means: the action of thinking/ contemplating appropriately or
with restraint, is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person
plural). Because the action was preceded
with the negation (LA) then it means not processing/ thinking/ contemplating.
Salaam all and have a great day
Hussein
