وَاتَّبَعُواْ مَا تَتْلُواْ الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَى مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَانَ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَلكِنَّ الشَّيْاطِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَ وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَارُوتَ وَمَارُوتَ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَتَّى يَقُولاَ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلاَ تَكْفُرْ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِ وَمَا هُم بِضَآرِّينَ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلاَ يَنفَعُهُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُواْ لَمَنِ اشْتَرَاهُ مَا لَهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلاَقٍ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْاْ بِهِ أَنْفُسَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ

The AYA says:
And they followed for themselves what the satans (beings, people or otherwise that pull people from the right place) followed on the rule of Solomon. Solomon did not cover (from GOD’s message), but the Satans did. They teach the people how to deceit (the senses as in magic and otherwise) and whatever was sent to the two messengers in Babel Haroot and Maroot. And they (the two) were not teaching anyone until they say: “We are but trickery (that requires hard tests to clear), so do not cover (yourself from GOD’s orders and messages, with this knowledge), so they learn from them what divides between a man and his partner, and they are not harming by it of anyone except with the knowledge of the GOD. And they learn what will harm them and not benefit them, and they have known that whoever takes it will not have resources in the hereafter, and hardship is what they have taken for themselves if they knew.
My personal note:
There are important messages that come from this and one is the definition of Satan: one who takes you from your right place and it can be human or non human. It also mentions that magic is the deceit of the senses and therefore the message here is the honesty in dealing and in presenting things to people, and that learning how to deceit people is one of the very few forms of knowledge that are harmful to the person that learns and the person that is the sufferer from it.
The aya also reminds us that all happens with GOD’s knowledge and reminds us that the people that harm other people are in fact harming themselves.

Walamma jaahum rasoolun minAAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahum nabathafareequn mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba kitabaAllahi waraa thuhoorihim kaannahum layaAAlamoona

The AYA says “And when an envoy came to them from the GOD declaring true what is with them, a group of the ones that were given the book put away the book of GOD behind their backs, as if they do not know.
My personal note:
The Aya talks about some of the people that were given the book before the prophet and that is a designation given mostly to Christians and Jews. The Aya points out that the prophet came declaring true what the people of the book have. The AYA also points out that the people that cast away the book of GOD behind their backs become people without knowledge.
This continues the main point of the message of the Qur’an and that is knowledge is very important. It also points out that one needs to read the book in order to make sure that they actually gain the knowledge.

Awa kullama AAahadoo AAahdannabathahu fareequn minhum bal aktharuhum layu/minoona

The Aya says “Or is it that whenever they exchanged a promise (with GOD), a group of them put it away, but most of them do not make selves safe (in GOD)”
My personal note:
This Aya points out that people should keep their promises to GOD and not cast them away as they please. Casting away of a promise that is made to GOD is a sign of not making oneself safe in GOD.

GOD here reminds the humans that being an enemy of GOD is something that equals burying the minds from the message and the messengers of GOD. Doing this will make the human an enemy of GOD. This is a position that no human can win.

The Aya says “and you will find them wanting most strongly and most carefully of the people on life, and of the ones that made partners (to GOD) loves one of them if he is made to live a thousand years, and that is not moving him away from the suffering that he lives the length. The Aya says that many of the people that claim that they are going to heaven wish that they live a thousand years, however this length will not move them away from the suffering. The AYA then reiterates that GOD is knowledgeable of what all do.
This is a reminder yet again that we should not claim on GOD what is not true and that we should always be conscious that GOD sees all

My personal note:
The AYA talks again about the covenant between the Israelites and GOD. It mentions that the Israelites were asked to hear and understand the oat and take it with strength. However, they said we understood and we resisted or disobeyed. The AYA also talks that the baby cow that was worshipped was soaked into some of their hearts and minds by closed mindedness. The AYA talks that this process of belief and trust and attaining safety leads to hardship if that is what they trust.
This AYA is a reminder to all of us to keep our hearts and minds open to GOD and his messages. IT also invites us to reexamine our systems of belief and see if they are leading us in the right direction or not. The AYA suggests that the right system of belief should lead to good results and not to hardship.

The Aya says “And if it was said to them (Israelites): trust in what The GOD made arrive (message). They said: We trust in what was sent on us, and they cover their minds at what is behind it. And He (The message that is behind the Israelites’ message) is the Right (true and the right of GOD on people) declaring true to what is with them (Israelites). Say (order to Muhammad): So, why do you kill the prophets of the GOD from before if you were trusting (in them and their messages?”
My personal note:
The Aya addresses a dialogue between some of the Israelites and the prophet. That when some of the Israelites are asked to trust in the new message, they will say that they trust their message. GOD then says that they (Israelites) cover their minds from what is behind (it’s skin, which means later in timing and also depth because what is behind the skin is the deep cavity of the body). GOD reiterates that this new message is the Right (ALHAQQ which is a word that combines truth and rights). The Aya ends with a question to be posed on the Israelites and the question asks: Why did you kill the prophets if you trusted in them and their message?
The question is important, because it challenges the Israelites into contemplating that what they accept as from GOD, was refused before by some of their ancestors. This is a reminder that not every message that was refused deserved to be refused.
This challenge, although addressing the Israelites, applies to all of us. The big message is again that we should never cover our minds from GOD’s message.

Note:
The Aya says “And if it was said to them (Israelites): trust in what The GOD made arrive (message). They said: We trust in what was sent on us, and they cover their minds at what is behind it. And He (The message that is behind the Israelites’ message) is the Right (true and the right of GOD on people) declaring true to what is with them (Israelites). Say (order to Muhammad): So, why do you kill the prophets of the GOD from before if you were trusting (in them and their messages?”
My personal note:
The Aya addresses a dialogue between some of the Israelites and the prophet. That when some of the Israelites are asked to trust in the new message, they will say that they trust their message. GOD then says that they (Israelites) cover their minds from what is behind (it’s skin, which means later in timing and also depth because what is behind the skin is the deep cavity of the body). GOD reiterates that this new message is the Right (ALHAQQ which is a word that combines truth and rights). The Aya ends with a question to be posed on the Israelites and the question asks: Why did you kill the prophets if you trusted in them and their message?
The question is important, because it challenges the Israelites into contemplating that what they accept as from GOD, was refused before by some of their ancestors. This is a reminder that not every message that was refused deserved to be refused.
This challenge, although addressing the Israelites, applies to all of us. The big message is again that we should never cover our minds from GOD’s message.

The Aya says “Hardship is what they took to themselves, that they close their minds at what God made arrive, in an ugly act of immaturity. That GOD made arrive (guidance) of the overflowing of his good to whoever HE (GOD) desires of his servants/slaves, so they (Israelites), came home at anger upon anger, and to the closed minded (of GOD’s messages) suffering that humiliates into suppleness.

This Aya talks about some of the Israelites but applies to all humanity. The Aya says that the person that closes his/her mind at GOD’s message will take hardship.
