Thamaniyata azwajin mina alddani ithnayni wamina almaAAzi ithnayni qul alththakarayni harrama ami alonthayayni amma ishtamalat AAalayhi arhamu alonthayayni nabbioonee biAAilmin in kuntum sadiqeena
The Aya says: Eight kinds, from the sheep two and from the goats two. Say (O Muhammad): is it the two males He prohibited or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females encompassed within? Inform me with knowledge if you (plural) happen to be truthful.
My personal note: The Aya continues the theme of declaring things prohibited without knowledge and knowledge here is pointing to absence of evidence from a book of God and so on.
There was a new word that was used here and that is ISHTAMALAT. It is derived from the root SH-M-L which means left side or north. The term however covers what wraps around an entity and encompasses it within. This may be related to having a piece of cloth and wrap it around the shoulders starting from the right side and then covering the left side and the back again towards the right shoulder. And Allah knows best.
The term ZAWJ which is often used to mean spouse is used here to mean kind or type and that is because the term covers any two or more entities that become a unit either through spousal relationship or sharing common features.
Translation of the transliterated words: Thamaniyata: eight Azwajin: types/ kinds Note: the root is Z-W-J and it means when two or more things or people form a unit. This unit is the unit of marriage or anything that unites them as being very close as to be rarely separate or sharing a common feature. AZWAJIN means in this context types or kinds because they are united by the same common features. Mina: of/ from Alddani: the sheep Note: the root is Dhad-Hamza-N and it means sheep or the animals that have wool. Ithnayni: two (types) Wamina: and of/ from almaAAzi: the goats Note: the root is M-Ain-Z and it means goats or the animals that have hair.
Ithnayni: two Qul: Say (O Muhammad) Note: the root is Qaf-W-L and it means saying or communicating. QUL is an order or a request addressed to a singular. It means: say or communicate. Alththakarayni: is it the two males?/ the two kinds of males Note: The A at the beginning of this word points to a question in the word. ALTHAKAYNI is derived from the root TH-K-R and it means mention and remember, at the same time. The concrete word is something running on the tongue as if speaking it. Another concrete word is male or the male organ. The relationship between the two is not very clear and they can be different words that share the sound but have different root. It could be that the male is considered the active organ and that memory is an active process, but that is only a theory. In this context ALTHAKARAYNI means the two males or the two kinds of males that were mentioned previously. Harrama: He (Allah) made forbidden/ forbidden to violate Note: the root is Ha-R-M and it means “forbidding and forbidden to violate”. HARRAMA is an action that is completed. It means: the action of making the object (MA= what) forbidden happened by the subject (third person singular).

This word is further used to any entity that is soft, passive and receptive as opposed to male which is generally used for active and hard and non receptive. ALONTHAYAYNI are the two females or two female types. Amma: or what? Ishtamalat: wrapped around/ held within/ encompassed Note: the root is SH-M-L and it means left as the opposite of right. It can also mean north as opposed to south. Conceptually, it can point to something of bad consequence happening but also of something that wraps around an entity or something that is encompassing. This understanding may be related to having a piece of cloth that one wraps around self by throwing it around the left shoulder and so on. In this context, this meaning is considered. ISHTAMALAT is an action that is completed. It means: the action of encompassing or wrapping around or holding within happened by the subject (third person plural pointing to arham= wombs). AaiLM is derived from the root Ain-L-M and it means knowing/knowledge or knowledge of facts. AAiLM is knowledge or knowledge of facts and in here it points to evidence. in: if Kuntum: you (plural) were/ you happened to be Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KUTUM is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (second person plural). This in turn means: You (plural) were or you happened to be. Sadiqeena: Truthful/ people of truth Note: the root is Sad-D-Qaf and it means truth in word or deed as a concept. When it is in deed, it takes the shape of any act of truthfulness including charity. SADIQEENA means people of truth or truthful
