لَن تَنَالُواْ الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنفِقُواْ مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ وَمَا تُنفِقُواْ مِن شَيْءٍ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ
Lan tanaloo albirra hatta tunfiqoo mimma tuhibboona wama tunfiqoo min shayin fainna Allaha bihi AAaleemun
The Aya says:
You will not reach the good landing until you spend of what you love. And what you spend of entity, then verily, Allah, in it, (is) knowledgeable.
My personal note:
I used good landing for Albirra because it is the route to goodness and it is also the product of goodness.
Translation of the transliterated words:
Lan: never
Tanaloo: will you reach/ will you grasp/ hold
Note: the root is N-Y-L and it means taking or reaching as a concept. One of the concrete words is Neel and it is the river of Egypt, because it makes the water reach Egypt. TANALOO is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of reaching or taking the object (Albirra) is being completed or will be completed by the subject (second person plural)
Albirra: the good landing
Note: the root is B-R-R and it means solid land or firm ground. This is the concrete meaning and the abstract is related to it as in firm grounding or the good landing because the word is associated with goodness as a process to goodness and the achievement of goodness. ALBIRRA is the good landing since this term has the process and the result at the same time.

Tunfiqoo: you spend
Note: the root is N-F-Qaf and it means tunnel in the concrete sense. This is then used to mean anything that is tunneled from one place to another as in hiding your thoughts or presenting different than the ones that you hold. Another is tunneling you money to another destination as in giving some of your money to charity or so forth. Here, it is used for the tunneling of the money or the spending it for charity. TUNFIQOO is an action that is derived from the root and that is being completed or will be completed. It means the action of making tunnelling or spending is happening or will be occurring by the subject (second person plural).

Tuhibboona: you love
Note: the root is Ha-B-B and it means in concrete seed. This word also means love. As if the seed is the product of love or the love will end up in a seed. TUHIBBOONA is an action that is derived from the root and that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of loving is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person plural). This, in effect means, You (plural) love.

Note: the root is N-F-Qaf and it means tunnel in the concrete sense. Fainna: then verily
Allaha: Allah
Bihi: in him
Note: Bi suggests that what comes after it is either an association with the action, a tool of the action or an object of the action or any combination of the three. If bi serves as an object of the action that it serves as an emphasis of the action. HI means him and it points to Shayin= entity.
AAaleemun: knowing/ knowledgeable
Note: the root is Ain-L-M and it means knowing or knowledge. AAaLEEMUN is the one that knows a lot, the all knowing.

It is interesting that N F Q has this tunnelling meaning and that it involves doing something hidden.
In English we have an idiom that uses the word "channelling" for moving money from here to there, perhaps contributing to some enterprise etc..It is a metaphor from the noun " a channel" which means the bed or course of a river, stream or canal. The difference is that the flow of money is not necessarily hidden, but it is probably continuous.
The English word "channel" is supposed to come from the Latin "canalis" that was a bit more hidden becvause it means a pipe, groove,or conduit. In this usage, the pipe, groove or conduit would sometimes be visible, but what was in it, was hidden!
Question: How does N F Q fit with the Arabic, MuNaFiQuum?

Munafiqoon is a term used for people who are involved in the action of tunelling in an interactive manner. Interactive means: in front of others in this sense. The action of tunnelling here would point to the fact that the tunnel has a very small part that is visible, while a more substantial invisible part. So a munafiq is a person who reveals to others a little and hides a lot. In the context of the message of the Qur'an, it is revealing apparent Iman or Islam while hiding rejection.
