3:141

Salaam all,

This is 3:141
وَلِيُمَحِّصَ اللّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَيَمْحَقَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Waliyumahhisa Allahu allatheena amanoo wayamhaqa alkafireena

The Aya says:
And in order that Allah purifies those who made themselves safe and make the rejecters vanish/dwindle.

My personal note:
The word Yumahhisa carries examination and purification at the same time. So, it has the purification from elements that are undesirable and then examining them. The same sentence carries the action of making vanish the rejecters. This is linked through WA with the previous sentence. It can be understood in two manners:

1- Making vanish the rejecters who are in the group that is with the prophet, as part of the act of purification.
2- Making them vanish period.

And both meanings are actually possible and not mutually exclusive.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Waliyumahhisa: and in order to purify/ and in order to examine
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. LI means in order to or to. YUMAHHISA is derived from the root M-Ha-Sad and it means in concrete the leg of the horse that is lean and is easy to examine the muscle structure. It is also used to mean the act of purification of Gold from things that are attached to it. So, conceptually, it is used for purification and close examination at the same time. YUMAHHISA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of making the object (Allatheena Amanoo= those who made themselves safe, coming up) purified and examined is happening or will be happening by the subject, Allah coming up.
Allahu: Allah
Allatheena: those who
Amanoo: Make themselves safe
Note: the root is Hamza-M-N and it means safe or safety. AMANOO is an action that is derived from the root and that is completed. It means: the action of making the object (not mentioned and therefore the subject and the object can be the same entity here) become safe happened by the subject (third person plural). So, it ends up meaning: they made themselves safe.
Wayamhaqa: and make disappear/vanish/ including make vanish
Note: WA is a letter that links what is before with what is after. This link is through inclusion, either one is included in the other or they are all included in the bigger sentence or bigger picture. YAMHAQA is derived from the root M-Ha-Qaf and it means in concrete usage the disappearing moon or vanishing moon at the end of the lunar month, or the camels that deliver only males and therefore will not reproduce. Conceptually, it carries the meaning of vanishing or dwindling. YAMHAQA is an action that being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of vanishing the object (Al kafireena= the rejectors) is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to God)
Alkafireena: the rejecters
Note: the root is K-F-R and it means covering. One of the concrete meanings of the word is the burying of the seed in the ground to plant it. This word also takes the meaning of rejecting or refusing something, since the person that rejects something will bury it in the ground. ALKAFIREENA are the rejecting ones or the rejecters.

Salaam all and have a great day.

Hussein
