Salaam all,

This is 3:137
قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌ فَسِيرُواْ فِي الأَرْضِ فَانْظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذَّبِينَ
Qad khalat min qablikum sunanun faseeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena

The Aya says:
Verily, passed before you (plural) consistent implementation of rules, then move in the land, then look/ contemplate how was (the) consequence of those who made untruths.

My personal note:
Sunan is a word that points to consistency and repetition. The Aya points to us that consistent rule of punishment for those who make untruths. The making of untruths can be in two ways:
1- Declaring the truth to be untruth.
2- Making untruths and claiming them to be truths

Both definitions apply here.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Qad: verily
Khalat: they passed on/ they left/ they emptied
Note: the root is KH-L-W and it means emptying from all or emptying from all except ---. One concrete word that is from this root is KHALIA and is the name of the bee hive because it is empty of any life but the bees. KHALAt is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: The action of emptying happened by the subject (third person plural feminine pointing to Sunan= applications of rules/groups).
Min: from
Qablikum: before you (plural)
Note: the root Qaf-B-L and it means front. This is then carried in time or space or any plain of thought. If it is in time, then front means before, while place would be in front. It is used to mean acceptance and reception since we receive and accept using our fronts. QABLI here is front in time and that is before. KUM is plural you.

Sunanun: consistent application of rules/ rules
Note: the root is S-N-N and it means in concrete tooth or teeth. This word also takes many other meanings that are related in different words to the concrete. One of the meanings is aging and years, probably because the teeth change with years and last long even after death. It is also used to mean the action that is repeated identically very much as the teeth chew identically over and over. Sunanun takes that meaning which is applications or rules or consistent application rules.
Faseeroo: then move/ then travel
Note: Fa means then, or therefore or so. SEEROO is derived from the root S-Y-R and it means movement. SEEROO is an order to a group of people. It means move or travel in this sense.

Alardi: the land/ the earth
Note: ALARDI is derived from the root Hamza-R-Dhad and it means earth or land. ALARDI is the earth/ the land.
Faonthuroo: then look/ then contemplate
Note: FA means therefore or so. ONTHUROO is derived from the root N-THa-R and it means look and looking at time or place. If it is place then vision is the meaning and if it is time, then the meaning is waiting. ONTHUROO is an order for action that is addressing a plural. It means look. This “look” may have a touch of contemplation.
Kayfa: how
Kana: he was/ he happened to be
Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KANA is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (third personal singular). This in turn means: he were or he happened to be
AAaqibatu: consequence of
Note: the root is Ain-Qaf-B and it means back of foot. This is the concrete meaning and it is used to mean end, back or behind including the consequence of a person’s presence or action and it can also mean obstacle. AAaQIBATU means consequence of.
Almukaththibeena: the ones who make untruth
Note: the root is K-TH-B and it means a lie or not true. ALMUKATHTHIBEENA are the ones who make untruth. This could be because they make things up and claim them to be truths, or because they claim the truth to be untruth, and both meanings apply here.
