ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَنبَاء الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيكَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يُلْقُون أَقْلاَمَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ يَكْفُلُ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
Thalika min anbai alghaybi nooheehi ilayka wama kunta ladayhim ith yulqoona aqlamahum ayyuhum yakfulu maryama wama kunta ladayhim ith yakhtasimoona

The Aya says:
This (is) of the news of the unperceived. We communicate it to you subtly and you did not happen to be with them as they cast their bids who will be responsible for Mary’s welfare and you were not with them as they dispute between themselves (over who will be responsible for Mary’s welfare).

My personal note:
The Aya informs the prophet that he was not present when the incident of who will take care of Mary’s welfare was being disputed between the different elders who wanted to take care of her. It gives an idea of the importance of Mary to the people of that time and place.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Thalika: that
Min: from
Anbai: news of/information of
Note: the root is N-B-Hamza and it means news as a concept and can be extended to any form of information. ANBAI means news of or information of.
Alghaybi: the unseen/ the in-apparent/ the unperceived
Note: the root is GH-Y-B and it means unseen, absent or in-apparent as a concept and it becomes more specific in meaning according to the sentence. One concrete derivative is GHABAH for forest since the forest hides what is in it, or makes them inapparent. ALGHAYBI is the unseen or unperceived or in-apparent.
Nooheehi: We communicate him subtly/ we make him communicated subtly
Note: the root is W-Ha-Y and it means communication that is of subtle nature. NOOHEE is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means the action of making the object HI= him (pointing to the news) communicated subtly is happening by the subject (first person plural)
Ilayka: to you (singular)
Wama: and not
Kunta: you (singular) were/ you (singular) happened to be
Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KUNTA is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (second person singular). This in turn means: you were or you happened to be.
Ladayhim: At them/ with them
Ith: as/ when
Note: ITH and it’s relative ITHA are conditional that connect to time as well.
Yulqoona: they cast
Note: the root is L-Qaf-Y and it means receiving as a concept which would be understood more specifically according to the sentence. Concrete uses of the word are a female that gets pregnant easily, therefore she received the sperm well. It is also used for the birds that hunt because they receive the prey easily and so forth. YULQOONA is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means the action of making the object (Aqlamaham=their bids) received is made to happen by the subject (third person plural). This takes the meaning of casting the object so another person or persons will receive it.
Aqlamahum: their pencils/ their bids
Note: the root is Qaf-L-M and it means pencil or any cylindrical peace that can be trimmed and sharpened. This is the concept of the word. It is also used for the sticks that can be short or long that people use to make bids with. AQLAMAHUM means their pencils but is closer to bids in this instance.
Ayyuhum: who of them
Yakfulu: will take care of/ will be responsible for welfare of
Note: The root K-F-L and it means behind/pelvis or what protects the pelvis, as in the matt that one sits on when riding the horse or a camel and so forth. It is extended according to the plane of thought to mean protection and taking care of or be responsible for the welfare of. YAKFALU is an action that is happening or will be happening. It means: the action of becoming responsible for the welfare of the object (Mariam coming up) is happening or will be happening by the subject (Ayyuhum= who of them).
Maryama: Mary
Wama: and not
Kunta: you (singular) were/ you (singular) happened to be
Note: the root is K-W-N and it means being. KUNTA is an action that is completed that is derived from the root. It means: the action of being happened by the subject (second person singular). This in turn means: you were or you happened to be.
Ladayhim: At them/ with them
Ith: as/ when
Yakhtasimoona: they dispute between themselves
Note: The root is KH-Sad-M and it means contending or disputing over an entity. This either can be a dispute over an issue or idea or a person. YAKHTASIMOONA is an action that happening or will be happening. It means: the action of making the action of disputing is happening by the subject (third person plural) on the subject, over the issue of dispute (who will take care of Mary).
