3:124

Salaam all,

This is 3:124
إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَلَن يَكْفِيكُمْ أَن يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِثَلاَثَةِ آلاَفٍ مِّنَ الْمَلآئِكَةِ مُنزَلِينَ
Ith taqoolu lilmumineena alan yakfiyakum an yumiddakum rabbukum bithalathati alafin mina almalaikati munzaleena

The Ays says:
As/ when you (singular) say to the ones who made themselves safe: Does it not meet your need that your Nurturing Lord will extend you with three thousand of the angels sent down?!

My personal note:
The Aya recalls the situation in the battle of Badr when the messenger reassured his followers that God will extend them with three thousand angels to help them in that situation. The message of this Aya is that God is always with those who are safe in Him and trust in Him. He never lets them be alone.

Translation of the transliterated words:
Ith: As/ when
Taqoolu: you (singular) say/ you happen to say
Note: the root is Qaf-W-L and it means saying or communicating. TAQOOLU is an action that is being completed or will be completed that is derived from the root. It means: the saying is happening or will be happening by the subject (second person singular).
Lilmumineena: to the ones who made themselves safe
Note: LI means to. ALMUMINEENA is derived from the root Hamza-M-N and it means safety. ALMUMINEENA means the ones who made themselves safe.
Alan: will never?!/ Will ever
Yakfiyakum: He meets your (plural) need
Note: the root is K-F-W and it means meeting the challenge or the need in any way as in having done enough to meet that challenge and so forth. YAKFIYA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of meeting the need of the object Kum= plural you, is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular pointing to Rabbukum= your lord coming up.
An: that
Yumiddakum: He makes extended to you (plural)/ He supplies you/ He makes you expanded
Note: the root is M-D-D and it means extension or expansion. Some concrete uses of the word are the high tide, when the sea expands, and also when the person lies down and expands himself or herself. YUMIDDA is an action that is being completed or will be completed. It means: the action of making the object (KUM= plural you) extended or expanded is happening or will be happening by the subject (third person singular).
Rabbukum: Your nurturing Lord
Note: Note: the root is R-B-B and it means lordship and nurturing at the same time. It gives authority and nurture at the same time. RABBU means nurturing Lord of. KUM means plural you.
Bithalathati: by three/ with three
Note: Bi suggests that what comes after it is either an association with the action, a tool of the action or an object of the action or any combination of the three. If bi serves as an object of the action that it serves as an emphasis of the action. Here, the action is the extending or expanding. THALATHATI is derived from the root Th-L-Th and it means three. THALATHATI means three.
Alafin: thousands
Note: The root is Hamza-L-F and it means thousand as a number. It also is used to mean repeated exposure to an entity which leads to familiarity and affection/friendship. ALAFIN means thousands.
Mina: from/ of
Almalaikati: the angels
Note: The root is L-Hamza-K and it means messenger. ALMALAIKATI means the messenger and is used for the angels since they are the messengers of God to his people and human messengers.
Munzaleena: sent down/ made to arrive
Note: the root is N-Z-L and it carries the meaning of arrival to stay and descent. One concrete meaning is the descent of the person from his or her horse or camel as they arrive at the place where they plan to stay. MUNZALEENA are the entities that were made to come down or made to arrive.

Salaam all and have a great day.

Hussein
